RObEMfRE BROOK A VISIT TO THE FARM Rosemere that sweet word bungs back the most fragrant memorles The first thought that comes to me 1 the restful and welcomlng atmosphere The barn with its rugged rafters its haylofts bulglng with sweet meadow hay I can see the girls climbing like young goats to the topmost rafters to iump far below into the cushion like hay In the stalls the horses munch contentedly and occasionally stamp or whmny I hear again the gurgle of vsater as it lose My feet were wet and cold from the dew but little I cared' The horses gulped the cool clear watei eagerly sucking up the last drop The farmhouse was warm A roaring fire l1t the room and made hvely shadow dance on the walls I smell the sputterlng hot dogs the sweet DIC iles the ripe Mackintosh apples How hungry I was that night' How hungry and how tired I lay on my bunk half asleep with the girls swarm mg around me I heard their giggles and WIIISPQIQ I heard a horse whinny far away then I slept JUDITH COOPER 16 I remember vividly the little spring where I fetched water for the horses.
