OAK LEAVES OUR NEW FIELD SECRETARY Oak Grove announces with pleasure and we 111 welcome with enthusi asm the appointment as our new Field Secretaiy of Beverly Powell daugh tel of the late D1 and M1 J R5de1 Powell of Boston Beverly as she has asked us to call hei is one hund1ed pei cent an Oak G1ove 25111 having transferred at the beginning of her ophomoie year from a fashionable school 1n greater Boston Graduating f1 om Oak Grove 1n nineteen twenty seven Beverly was attiacted to Brenau College 1n Georgia where she might ma1o1 in the Depaltment of Speech in which she w as interested During the next two years she was acco1 ded one honor afte1 another some of which an underclassman had never held before It was with real reluc tance that she yielded to advice to t18IlSf6!' to a blg university for the com pletion of her work In spite of her late entrance at Northwestein Un1 versity Bex erly s dynamic pei sonality and talents soon b1 ought her unexpected honors thele and she became one of the leading girls on the Tl eat campus She retuined to Nolthwesteln last September aftei a long summer of delightful foreign tray el to contlnue some graduate work and 1ema1ned until the end of the flist semestei whe11 she could not 16S1St an appointment as the new Fleld Seci etary at Oak G1 oxe So many are seek ing admission to Oak Grove that with its llmlted enrollment it becomes the D1OSp9CtS and deciding which ones shall be idmitted Dullng the 1nte11ms between her usits bex e1ly helps the cla ses stage the11 d1 amatlc pioductions and makes he1 self an altogethei adoiable part of our Oak G1 ove family MORE ART AT OAK GROVE There a1e so many intel estlng depa1tments at Oak Groxe and each one under such experts that it certainly takes talent and power to be conspicu ous but everyone agrees that Art takes a maiol place at Oak Grove this xeai s1nce Miss Lev1ston not only has talent but enthusiasm and x1go1 for hcl work While Miss Lev1ston has elaboiate plans and 0bl6CtlV6S for e ich of the many bianches of her depaitment yet she IS charmingly progressive in her tendencies and allows us a stimulating amount of freedom 1n our cre atne work even though she insists upon the mastery of the fundamentals 1n technique We haxe had some fas mating special proiects thls year beginning wlth tl1e designing and making of our own lovelv Christmas C31 ds from block 1JI'1I'ltS of our own designs Oak Grove g1rls made between o11e and two thousand Christmas g1eet1ngs and some W919 genuine wo1 ks of a1t A specialty IS made of posters to announce all the b1g events of the school year with clever and st11k1ng paintings O1 sketches and the different 6 4 Av .
