lt is a strike! . . . No, it is a split. A new club was organized this year by students interested in the sport of bowling. The idea behind the organiza- tion was to provide an opportunity for interested students to develop their bowling skills. Bowling is a popular sport that is enioyed by both our male and female students. They practiced after school at the Berry bowling alley near the school to prepare for competi- tion in tournaments both on an individ- ual and a team basis. This is easy . . .Plop Another new club at Wyatt this year was the Ice Skating Club. The main pur- pose of the club was to get students interested in ice athletics and they tried hard to arrange times when everyone could meet and skate together. Although most of the members did not know how to skate in the beginning, they quickly learned how to balance themselves on the narrow blades and skate like pros. ,.......... Carmen Tawater rides again . . . and again . . . and again. Goat ropers need love too! The purpose of the Rodeo Club is to achieve greater skill in the equestrian art as well as to form better sportsmen and women through individual competition. They were a member of the North Texas High School Rodeo Association, which has a membership of over fifty schools. They competed in sanctioned rodeos for individ- ual points as well as team points. All were totaled towards the finals in May. Only the top fifteen in each event were eligible to go to these finals. By participation in these rodeos the club won many trophies to serve as reminders of the prowess of the Rodeo Club members of 1972-73. These winnings brought honor to the club as well as pride to O. D. Wyatt. In addition to participating in activities outside of Wyatt the club sponsored many of their own activities. A carwash and a radio raffle were among the money raising proiects. The main proiect of the club, the annual O. D. Wyatt Rodeo, was held on the ninth and tenth of February. The profits from this rodeo provided the funds neces- sary to hold their annual spring dance. The club had that spirit that only Wyatt students can have. They possessed an undying desire to be the best Rodeo Club around to enhance their self-esteem as well as O. D. Wyatt's. . . -::- , wx. Pres., Ro Oi cky l I u i What if I castled my ' l 1 King? J During the 1972-73 school year, Wyatt experi- enced a growth in one of its older organizations. There were twenty-nine members in the Chess Club. Among these members were beginners and experienced players. The intelligent man's game of chess was spread to the cafeteria, the band hall, the auditorium and even the classroom. Meetings were held weekly to prepare for school tourna- ments which were played frequently. Consistent practice produced quality players. The members found the game challenging and intriging. They also found that it was a game that could be enioyed when played with peers that realized the importance of graciously accepting victory as well Q5 rlnfnnt Chess club members practicing after school. -EX Do red and blue really make purple? Seeking a better understanding of the prin- ciples of art and a closer relationship with art and artists, some of Wyatt's students banded together to form the Art Club. This group planned field trips to museums and studios in the Fort Worth-Dallas area to expand their knowledge and experience. Fortunately, the club was able to include in their visits the Kimball Art Museum, which opened in Fort Worth on October 4, 1972. They hoped to contribute a piece of sculpture and a set of stained glass windows to Wyatt to become a permanent part of the school. Aside-from their own domain of art, they were a part of the many school sponsored activities.
