Fall in at Attention 7 -fwifwi 's MW? This year's band was under the direction of Mr. Vernon Denman. During his first year at Wyatt, the band showed improvement as a result of constant rehearsals and personal dedication of both students and director. Being a band member demands time and ability. The members practiced untiringly on their instruments and on their marching in order to perform with precision. During the football season, their half time entertainment was always well worth watching. Nina Walker, the band's sweetheart, was presented with eight white mums and a kiss from Band President Dwight Denman during the last district game at the conclusion of a tremendous band performance. In addition to halftime entertainment they attended several marching and concert contests. Representing Wyatt at the UIL Marching Contest in Birdville, they received a two rating, the best ever earned by a Wyatt band. They ended the marching season with their annual Band Banquet which was held during the Christmas holidays at Walter Jetton's. The band members were among the most spirited people at Wyatt. The spirit and hard work of this group will not be forgotten, for music is an impor- tant part of the memories of our high school days.
