This year's Basketball season was the best in O. D. Wyatt': history. With 20 wins and all five starters returning from a seconc place finish in district, we're looking for bigger and better thing: next year. O. D. Wyatt's Basketball team started the year with a young inexperienced team, consisting of four sophomores, four iuniors and two seniors. This year's team won more games than any other in the school's history, twenty, and a second place finish in District. Karl Bradley made First Team All District and was the third leading scorer in District AAAA-9 with a 17.2 average. Gerry Greene was on Sec- ond Team All District, with Billy Trigg making Honorable Mention. Darrell Smith was Sophomore of the Year. The leading scorers for the Chaps were Karl Bradley with 476 points, Gerry Greene with 294 points and Darrell Smith with 263 points. Leading rebounders were Gerry Greene, Mark Brown and Stanley Hatcher. Because it lacked experience the team was not expected to finish high in District standings. With a lot of hard work and determination they steadily improved and matured into a strong contender for the District Championship, losing to the eventual champions in a very close playoff game by one point. Q Darrell Smith ll4l goes high in the air to make a basket. Q Outside shots by Carl Bradley 1131 were familiar scenes throughout the season.
