WAN O'BRlEN SHIPMATE TO THE END! A major contributor to O'BRlEN's last Familygram was TM2 William Van Twuyver. Since that writing Petty Officer Van Twuyver has 'left 1 'd e at Officer O BRIEN and taken up rest enc Candidate School in Newport, Rhode Island. Officer Candidate Van Twuyver did an outstanding job while onboard, not only in pitching in on our first Familygram, but also in helping his shipmates ready O'BRlEN for the myriad of events occurring before and after commissioning. We take pleasure in reproducing here, parts of a letter O. C. Van Twuyver recently sent to O'BRlEN's Commanding Officer: . . I am in my third week at Officer Candidate School here in Newport and am pleased to report that, currently, I rank number 1 in my company and number3 overall in the class of March 78. . . lt was my extreme pleasure to serve aboard the O'BRlEN with all its crew. I admit proudly of boasting to my fellow O. C.'s about the O'BRlEN quite often. . . Thank you Captain and Crew of the finest greyhound afloat. Smooth sailing to all of you. William P.
