The interests of the students, typical of any co-educational group, were centered about the football team, the cheering section, and romance. Doug Hewing, star football player, faced two problems--building a winning team and solving personal differences with his girlfriend, Maxine Doran--newly-elected Campus Qieerl. When hopes were lowest, Grandpa and Tex, two unusual characters, enrolled at the college, where they ironed out all difficulties and brought happiness to all. Some of the pep rallies were made more interesting and more inspiring by the presentation of skits by members of the pep club, directed by their sponsors, Miss McNutt and Mr. Smithson. The Football and Basketball Frolics, sponsored by this group, proved to be social high lights of the year, Both events were well attended by curious subjects of the new royalty. Growth of performance skills, teamwork, and understanding of the value of individual accomplishment toward the total effort have been this year's stepping stones toward a musical goal. This goal is the tmderstanding and appreciation of music and beauty in music through performance of it. A small part of this activity came before the public light. Our bushel was raised on occasion to allow our ray to shine upon the football field, the street parade, the home basketball games, and the concert hall. Out of town trips to Albion, Atkinson, Plainview, and Lincoln kept up the enthusiasm of young and old. The grade school members had the usual hassle with the high school over the proper bus. The most intelligent group won. Outstanding individual performances were given by ilutists, clarinetists, and wood- wind musicians with appropriate sounds from brass and percussion. The sma1l-but-oh- myl Pep Band spent many a lusty hour boosting the spirit of 0'Neill. ROYAL THEATRE OSBORNE'S SHOE STORE Georgia O.
