-ITER PARA TUTUM- ITER PARA TUTUM --- MAKE OUR WAY SECURE These were the words inscribed on the insignia of Archbishop Henry Joseph O ' Leary. To his memory we respectfully dedicate the first issue of the O ' Leary ENVOY. The education of Catholic youth was, he considered, of prime importance and during his episcopate he laboured unceasingly to further Catholic education in our Archdiocese. On one occasion Archbishop O ' Leary stated, The intellect, the memory, the imagination, the will, not to speak of the physical faculties, all require training and the most important part of education, is not so much that of the intellect as that of the will. In the formation of the good citizen, intellectual instruction alone will never supply the deficiency of in¬ adequate training of the will. On the contrar y, the better instructed intel¬ lectually, if the will is perverted towards wrong, the more dangerous will that man be to his fellowman and do to society in general.

And in his quiet way he does a wonderful job. Archbishop O ' Leary It was in these simple and sincere words that Archbishop O ' Leary paid his personal tribute to an eminent educator -- Mr. Austin O ' Brien. , In gratitude for the latter ' s unwavering interest in our high school, its staff and students, we offer a joint dedication of the first issue of the O ' Leary ENVOY. On July 1, 1961, Mr. O ' Brien retired from his position as Super¬ intendent of the Edmonton Separate Schools, after an active administration of thirty-seven years. During his term of office, he was renowned for his traditional respect for high academic standards, coupled with a modern regard for better methods of teaching. We, the students of O ' Leary High School, are daily reaping the benefits of his faithful adherence to his responsibility in spearheading the constant progress of the Edmonton Separate Schools.
