THE ODELL MILESTONES OF 1963 Presented by I The Senior Class Of W. R. ODELL HIGH SCHOOL Concord, North Carolina Cabarrus County Public Library www.cabarruscounty.us library DEDICATION Just an average student is not an A student. So is the average teacher not an A teacher. Only a few teachers can we students honestly designate as exceptional teachers. They gain this distinction by qualifica- tions of fairness, friendliness, sympathy, and a genuine concern for students. For devotion to their profession beyond its actual demand, a disinclination to shirk responsibility, a thorough grasp of subject matter, and an interesting and vital manner of presenting it, a way of making us as students realize the importance of learning. For being truly professional minded” and student minded. These are the teachers who demand both respect and love. One teacher whom the senior class believes to possess these qualities in the highest degree is a person we consider an Atteacher and an A+ human being. With gratitude and affection, we, the senior class of 1963 dedicate our yearbook to MRS. JANET GOLD- IERE. TRIBUTE The senior class of 1963 would like to pay tribute to MRS. HANSEL HARRY for her expert guidance and love during our grammar grade years. We, the seniors, were the first class to have the privilege of learn- ing under her at O.H.S. Her undying love and inspirational understand- ing will always be present in our minds. 2 This is a record of our last secure years. A record of the years when care rested lightly on our shoulders and of a time when decisions were made for us by our parents and our teachers. Soon we shall be responsible for our own decisions and it is our hope that the way we make them will help to make succeeding years more secure for those who follow us at O. H. S. In years to come, years that will show miracles beyond our wildest dreams, we shall look Within This Book” and relive the years when life was simple and lived on one small sphere. Whatever the future may bring, we shall always cherish our days at Odell and leave this printed record as proof to those who come after us. 4 ADMINISTRATION Left to right - Mrs. F. S. Can we succeed ? we have asked. Yes, others have said. Perhaps we are curious of whatever might be; We probably doubt what we cannot see. Still we must construct our lives to meet the demand Of an uncertain world which WE ' LL one day command. Fun and good times have passed our way. Mature we now stand to meet the day. Our friends and classmates have been a great part Of that which we hold so dear to our hearts. Teachers and principals - what wonderful guides They have showed us the way by staying at our sides. Though the paths of friends must sometimes split, Their influence has brought a pathway lit! We ' ll never forget all the precious weeks Which cause emotion so that we cannot speak. What pleasures and tears we all can recall! Farewell to all we have loved and known; Sometimes we faltered; sometimes we ' d fall! £ LA gg motto slm11 nol; y° u now we are grown! So nigh is grandeur to our dust, CLASS COLORS So near is 001:1 to man ! CLASS FLOWEF Green and White When whispers low, Thou must, Magnolia The Youth replies, I can.
