SENIOR CLASS PROPHECY Along with atomic energy and television is radar which enables us to see, hear, and know everything! Let us set up the TV screen for 1963 and find out all the things that have happened to the ’53 graduates of OHS. Now, let’s see, whom shall we look in on first. Haven’t seen Bobby Gentle in a long time. Let’s look for him. There he is— a famous painter in New York. He’s working on his latest masterpiece, which is a study of cherubs. He has succeeded in engaging the famous models Valda Brumley and Doris Kee. San Francisco, California— Elizabeth Coble has just set sail for Japan where she will begin her work as a missionary. George Tucker, as usual, one of the prominent persons before the public is now the Republican Speaker of the House. In the Sports Hall of Fame I noticed that Doris Barbee heads the list; on another plaque I see the name of Sara Winecoff— world famous softball player. Jimmy Patterson is now a famous jockey at Justin Rankin’s race track. Last year he entered the Kentucky Derby, riding a horse owned by Trenton Measimer. The quiet Bobby Walker we knew has won world fame for his daring feat of going over Niagara Falls in a plywood barrel made by Dwight Morris. Several of the girls find matrimony a pleasant occupation. Virginia Atwell, Geraldine Russ, and Peggy Irvin are all living happily in their little bungalows. A teachers’ convention in Chicago— let’s see if we know anyone there. Why there is Flo ra Hartsell and Jennie Kerr too, who teaches at A. L. Brown High- still likes Kannapolis. Lynn Me Murry is teaching Chemistry at Franklin County High School in Georgia. Jo Ann Christenbury sure knows the way to a man’s heart. She is now dietitian at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in New York. Serving efficiently as Secretary of the United States Treasury we find Steve Christy. Steve says he got his experience while handling the pennies of the Senior Class of ’53. ° Well, well, here is something interesting— the world famous “Redheads” will play next Tuesday. They are featuring a girl who can cut flips between dribbles, let’s see why her name is “Nina” send-um-rolling Taylor. The Stare Line Beauty Shop, owned, operated and swept out by Doris McManus and Banna Holbrook is one of the most progressive business establish- ments of this district. I see a large truck rolling along— well, look who the driver is— Foy Troutman. He hauls tomatoes and peaches, (and they don’t always fall under the food group either). Neal James can be seen almost any day on the sandy beach with his distil- ling apparatus, distilling the water from the ocean to obtain salt so he can catch birds by putting salt on their tails. As for me— I’ve just finished the “Unfinished Symphony” while fiying around the world upside down in a jet helicopter. The screen is blurring. I can see nothing more . . . thus ends the prophecy of the Seniors of W. R. Odell High School and their participation in the future world. HELENE CALDWELL Class Prophetess
