DEDICATIO To Mr. Verner Cox, who has introduced Nyack students to the complex world of x and y for twenty-live years, we, the Class of 1955, fondly dedicate our TOVVER. His thorough, thoughtful instruction and understanding na- ture has smoothed the paths of high school life for everyone has come to know him. Teaching, like a magnet, has drawn to it many members of the Cox family. His father, mother, wife and oldest daughter have been or are employed in that field. Coming to Nyack after graduation from Oswego State Normal School, he finished his work for a degree at New York University. Before coming to this high school, Mr. Cox taught for one year in a one room rural school where there were twelve students in five dif- ferent grades. He has been scoutmaster of Troop :H:6 for fifteen years and was District Commissioner of the Hudson District of the Rockland County Council, B.S.A., for three years. Always interested in athletics, he has been coaching six-man football for many years, and assisted with the track team. This year, he has taken over the cross-country coaching duties. His unusual abilities have not gone unrecog- nized - offices which Mr. Cox has held are many. He has been president of the Nyack Faculty Association, Chairman of the Junior High School Section of the Southeastern Zone of the New York State Teachers Association, and president of the Rockland County Teachers' Association. At present, he is the chairman of the Rockland County Mathematics Teachers. As we students follow our way down the paths of time, we will always remember this man whose sincere devotion to youth and teach- ing endeared us all to him.
