THE PURPLE AND GOLD Of course we wouldn't think it of any young man, but still, the circum- stances are very suspicious. Of course Alphonse only went into his mother's room because the light was better there. Still, when his sweet voice wafted over the air, a distinct essence seemed to come from the radio. Sweet Pea! Ah! Sweet Perfume! Misplaced Eyebrow It was indeed a surprise when one of our budding young men, Mr. Charles Francis Hosser by name, made a spec- tacular entrance, following his Christ- mas vacation, sporting what he elabo- rately called a moosetash.', His un- suspecting friends politely asked him if Santa Claus forgot to bring him a cake of soap, for they innocently believed that, arising at a late hour, he had not had time in his mad dash to the bus for such minor matters as washing his baby face. His hair was slicked down, however, in his usual manner, and his ears looked as though they had just been freshly scrubbed, for they emitted a soft crim- son glow. Mr. Hosser promptly informed his tormentors that he had strictly per- formed his daily duties. XN'e then blamed his discoloring on something he ate. Vile were then silenced by Mr. Hosser, who told us that he had only grown a moosetash over the vacation and that if it was going to cause such a stir, he would shave it off. XVe couldn't help thinking that at the present a good stiff towel might be the best remedy. VVe told Mr. Hosser that if he put hair tonic on his misplaced eyebrow, at graduation time he might be able to twist and curl it at the ends, to his heart's content. Mr. Hosser then went out in a huff and we didn't see much of him for the rest of the day. The next day Mr. Hosser came in with only two eyebrows. To all ye boys who have a secret longing to be second Clark Gables, don't start in to be sophisticated now. School is not the right place for you, and you might not like your reception. Ask Mr. Hosser, he knows! -Olida Soucy. Guess Who First Clue: She's well known around here for her businesslike manner and appearance. Though she's not very tall, she is most efficient, and you'll seldom find her idle. Are you guessing? If you don't know who I'm telling about, read on. Second Clue: Anyone who has taken a business course will know that her bark is far worse than her bite and that her temper is not as bad as her red hair would suggest. You're getting closer to the answer, but here's one more clue to help you make sure of it. Third Clue: Her favorite color is green, and, although her hobby seems all wet at times, it is really quite on the level. VVhat? You don't know yet? XVell, 1'll give you one more chance. Fourth Clue: She took some of us to the insane asylum and, what's more, brought us all back again. Of course you know her. She's our old friend, Miss Goodwin. -Ann XN'oodbury. The Dope on Sweet Pea Due to the fact that, not only in con- versation among the students of the school, but also in essays and short stories written by certain students in the school, I have been teased and kidded because of my sweetness,,' due to a little bottle of perfume, I have been forced to put into writing the true story of the incident which was
