THE PURPLE AND GOLD TOWN MEETING Every year the Senior History Class goes to town meeting to see exactly how it is run. This year the class, accompanied by Mr. Anderson, went Tuesday, March 9. A mock town meeting was held later and school problems were discussed and voted on. SENIOR CLASS TRIP On February 10, the Senior Class, accompanied by Miss Sherburne, went to Rochester to see the movie Gone With The Wind. This picture was of special interest to this class because they were studying the Civil VVar period in United States History. . JUNIOR PROM The Junior Prom was held May 16 with music by Ray VVelch and his orches- tra. The hall was attractively decorated with two shades of green and white. THE ACTIVITIES PERIOD Perhaps you have heard much about the Activities Period. First of all it was introduced five years ago for the purpose of giving those pupils that go on the bus an opportunity to participate in activities they otherwise could not. The regular periods were juggled around and the noon hour was shortened in order to have the last period in the morning, a half hour one, to be used for these activities. During the five years, different activities in the form of clubs and sports have been intro- duced. Some have stayed while others have been dropped because of lack of inter- est. Nevertheless this period has been very successful and much appreciated by the students. The Activities Period has been used for things other than the activities sched- uled. At one time during the year the entire student body assembled in the main room where they enjoyed moving pictures by Jimmy Moore. One morning in March, the school had the pleasure of having for a speaker, Mr. Herbert D. Miller, Vocational Counselor and Instructor, at McIntosh Business College. He gave a very interesting talk on Vocations, In that talk he gave experiences of both boys and girls in many fields. On April 14, we were privileged to have the World's Amateur Champion Typist, Miss Grace Phelan, who has an official record of 133 net live-stroke words a minute for thirty minutes. She actually typed 143 words per minute during her demonstration here at Nute. l25l
