SOCCER P. Claud SOCCER 1957-1958 Due to graduation we had almost a new team when the season opened. arl Snyder was our big scoring threat -and Paul Claude developed into a fine ull-back. These two boys were elected captains. We had a favorably good eason posting 7 wins, 4 losses and 1 tie. We beat Holly in the Section 5 quarter finals 16-1: but lost in the semi- inals 0-4 to Williamson. We outscored our opponents 65-30. Earl Snyder ad 34 of our points. The fine fighting spirit of the JV. players carried them through to a successful season, in spite of stiff competitions and some problems that developed late in the season. The sharp firing power of Terry Spohn, jerry johnson and David Hurlburt contributed a great deal to the success of the season. Jerry johnson was high in foul shooting percentage, with 712. Ter- ry Spohn was high in total points - 182. The success of the team could not have been possible without the able assistance of Edward Gormel, Bill Lindsay, Jay Treat, Dave Beardsley, Pete Willard, Gary Hotchkiss, and Theron Foote. It was a pleasure to work with the boys this year and Ihope for them every success in the future. 55
