SENIOR GLEE CLUB THE Nunda Central Senior Glee Club for thc year nintccn hundred forty-fivc- forty-six was composed of twenty-five girls. The Glee Club had as its accom- panist Mary Bennett, a Sophomore. On September twenty-eighth, a Teachers' Conference was held at Geneseo. As a part of the afternoon program, an allgirls chorus, composed of students from the Livingston County schools, rendered four selections. Nunda was ably repre- sented by Mary Bennett, Ruth Coffin, Pat Foster, Lois Gormel, Mary Arlen: Thompson and Mary Louise Thompson. October thirtieth the Glee Club made its First public appearance of the year as a group at the Dairymcn's League dinner. Novemberlthird an all State Concert was held in Dansville, at which students lrom various high schools participated. One of the highlights of the evening was the mixed chorus which numberedfabout two hundred andlfifty voices. Those from Nunda in the chorus were Mary Bennett, Pat Foster, and Mary Louise Thompson. The Spring Concert was presented in May and was really the big occasion of the year. The selection of pieces was varied, and each proved to be a huge success. --1 ACTIVITIES ---- 44

SERVICE CLUB OOD citizenship is one of the seven cardinal principles of secondary education. Implicit to good citizenship is a strong sense of service to one's fellowmen. With the idea of the welfare of the group in mind, the Service Club performs many valuable functions in Nunda Central High School. For many the Service Club provides. for the first time, opportunities to develop such citizenship traits as follows: Leadership and Initiative-Pupil-leaders initiate their own methods for ushering pupils to assemblies, locker inspection, etc.g Cooperation and Courtesy-- By working together on assemblies, assisting visitors and new studentsg Depend- zibility. Promptness and Honestyfliy student monitors in the halls during and between periods: Self-Control and Getting Along with Others-By personal actions anywhere and anytime in the school building. All members agree to adherei to the high ideals of citizenship set up by the Service Club. The students offer their services as members and all of this year's members havejproven themselves worthy members. Otlieers of the Service Club, include: President-Jeanne A. LIBRARY CLUB l'R Senior Library Club was oigginizied seven years ago under the eflieient direction of Miss Ruth Walker. This year. as in past years. we have made book pockets for the Red Cross, torresponded with library clubs of other sehools, reviewed books, Celebrated Book Week. and enjoyed many parties together. We have instituted the painphet and pieture files. and have typed quantities of book eards and pockets. Zoel,.Gautreau. Allan Sanford. and Shirley Hoagland have had the delightful experience of telling stories to the grade ehildren. V This was the junior Library Club's First year. We learned the how's and why's eoneerning the usual library duties of shelving books, stamping and Filing cards, and working at the desk. Some told stories to Miss Knight's fourth grade. .Xrrival of new books afforded an opportunity for further knowledge and infor- mation. The ineinbers of both elubs have found that in performing duties about the library. they have become more interested in the library. Thus, they have further developed their realm of reading. They have learned that the saying, A good book is 21 good friend is true. All the members feel they have gained a valuable experience by belonging to the library club, since it has taught them habits that will be useful all through life. -l ACTIVITIES ----- 45
