The purpose for This book is ouTlined in chapfer 2O:3O.3I. , And many oTher signs Truly did Jesus- in The presence of his disciples, which are noT wriTTen in This book: BuT These are wriTTen ThaT ye mighT believe ThaT Jesus is The ChrisT, The Son of God: and believing ye mighT have life Through his name. We Took special noTice,of The eighT signs in works, and eighT signs in words, ThaT are recorded for us. His works were mosTly mir- acles in which Jesus meT The needs of man while showing His claim of Son-ship: Thereby urging Them To believe on Him. 'His words were The uTTerances of The greaT I Am's which showed To us ThaT Jesus is eTernaI. Before Abraham was, I Am. One reason Jesus came in The flesh was To reveal The hearT Ilovel of The FaTher. He porfrayed ThaT love as one ThaT is resTless because of sin. His life and Teaching broughT people To a per- sonal crisis which issued forfh inTo decisions among Them. The book was noT exhausTed-, buT enough was uncovered To cause a conTinual sTud.y of The life of Jesus as He ushered in Theifonly way ThaT we can now be iusfified. -Boyd Y. Campbell . COLOSSIANS AND PHILEMON Our class was TaughT by BroTher Paul WiT- mer. We sfudied Colossians firsf, The-n Phil- mon. The firsT few days were spenT in liTerally Taking each verse aparT, buT we discovered we had To move along a IiTTIe fasTer in order To geT Through before The end of Bible School. Colossians was wriTTen by The Aposfle Paul probably beween 60-64 A.D. Verses I and 5 in 'chapTer Two seem To indicaTe ThaT Paul was ,never To see Them in person. buT we have reason To believe ThaT he may have sfopped There while passing close by, and ThaT iT was noT'recorded in The Bible. I9 ' BIBLE. STUDY 'Colossians in general is a 'message of good will and a book of exhorTaTion. IT' also em- phasizes ChrisT as The head of The Church. A few special reasons ThaT Paul had for This. leTTer was To correcT some errors ThaT were prevalenf among Them, such as The influence of philosophy and The Tradifions of men, and The facT ThaT They insisTed on Jewish riTes and ceremonies. This was noT bringing glory To ChrisT. In The concluding chapTers we find Chris- Tian duTies, such as having our affecTion seT on Things above and morfifying The deeds of The flesh. We can also find pracTical admon- iTion on The duTies of The ChrisTian family, and The duTies of masfers. The EpisT'e To Philemon was also wriTTen by Paul. There is an inTeresTing sTory in back of This leTTer abouT Philemon's former slave. Onesimus. He ran away from Philemon and laTer- came under PauI's minisTry and was converTed. So Paul wroTe This beaufiful leTTer of inTer- cession To plead wiTh Philemon To resfore One- simus back- To his favor. IT is Truly a beauTifuI sTory of God's wondrous ways in The lives of Those who yield 'Their lives To Him. -Mary Ann Fisher 1i- SERMON ON THE MOUNT This class was TaughT by BroTher Norman Reinford. This sTudy deals largely wiTh our aTTiTudes Toward Things and one anoTher.l How can we have a righT reIaTionship wiTh God if we have improper aTiTudes Toward our fellow- man?
