School Board FROM LEFT to RIGHT: Mrs. Ann Polovich, Robert Jones, Benny Summers, Russell Linder, Pres , Everet Adams, Sec.5 Gerald Brown, Vice Pres., M.S. Bob Daniels, Elmer D. I-Iarpham,'Supt. High School Principal Having received his B.S. in Education from the North- east Missouri State Teachers College in 1929, Mr. Huff- man taught in Douglas, wyoming, Clark and Green City, Missouri. In 1936 Mr. Huffman went to Joplin, Missouri where he taught science for seven years. in 1938, he received his Master's Degree at the University of Iowa, and taught in Iowa for several years. Mr. Huffman retired to his farm near Novinger in 1950, but was still quite active in community affairs: The Chariton Valley Aberdeen-Angus Association, Parent- Teachers Association, R.E.A. Telephone Company, and the Board of Education. In September 1956, Mr. Huffman came to R-1 School where he teaches Drivers Training as well as being princi- pal. Q Pt H rf Our Superintendent To best describe our Superintendent, Mr. Harpham, we must first list the organizations to which he belongs. He is a member of the following: National Educa- tion Association, American Association of School Ad- ministrators, State School Administrators Association, Missouri State Teachers Association, Missouri State His- torical Society, American Vocational Association, Lions C1 , Life Member of FFA, Masonic Lodge, Knights T pler, Royal Arch Masons, Royal and Select Master ns, A.A.O.N.M.S. at Kansas City, E1 Kadar Shrine of Kirksville, Order of the Eastern Star, Macdou- we Post of the American Legion. ture appears in both the Missouri, MOTHER OF T by Shoemaker and Fair, and WHO'S WHO IN AMERICAN EDUCATION. Mr. Harpham received his B.S. Degree at Northeast Missouri State Teachers College in Kirksville and his Masters Degree at the University of Missouri. He also comes from a family of teachers. His wife, four daughters, and three sons-in-law are members of the teaching profession. There are four masters de- grees among them. Our superintendent can not walk into a town in Mis- souri without meeting a friend or two. As a public re- ., x f lations man he is unique. Elmer D. Harpham, we welcome you to Novinger.
