Sill i i The Titan Varsity baseball team started their l965 season with successful efforts against their first three opponents. Titans won 8 out of first 'll games but the last half of the season saw the team drop several one-run games including a l-O decision to Monsinger Pace in the semi-finals of the group A tournament. The success of the T965 season can be contributed to timely hitting, clutch fielding and all-round team efforts. First team All-County 'Ist baseman Mike Fawley lead the team in both batting and fielding statistics with averages of .386 and .977 respectively. Other Titan regulars were First team All-County 3rd baseman David Landen, .322, center- fielder David Dannenhauer, .339, and rightfielder Howard Rigg with .3'l5. The pitching staff was headed by Tony Hohmann with a record of six wins and two loses, followed by Bob Demanti, 3-3, and Jay Cuniff, 1-2. Other players who received All-County recognition along with Fawley and Landen were 2nd team rightfielder Howard Rigg and centerfielder David Dannenhauer. Honorable men- tions went to 2nd baseman Ray Hull, and pitcher Tony Hohmann. The sound fielding all sophomore-iunior squad finished the 'IO-7 season with a .935 field average. This compiled a team batting average of .274 finished the Titan's first varsity baseball season on a successful note.
