John Standart During the regular season the basketball team took 1203 shots from the field and made 475 for a percentage of 39. From the foul line the team Ed Haxby made 243 shots out of 448 attempts for the unen- viable percentage of 54. Despite a tough schedule, next year looks bright. Aided by several of the Junior Varsity players, with a season record of 'l2 wins and 5 losses, and all of the varsity returning for Nova's first senior basket- ball team, big yields are hoped for the Titans. VARSITY B SKET BALL Cecil Sims Pete Smith Nova's 1964-65 basketball team was small in size but large in desire. The Titans ended the season with a respectable T2 won and 8 lost record, which made them the first winning team in a maior sport in Nova's young athletic history. Many illnesses and injuries to key players throughout the season kept the team from top performance in many games but team hustle was always evident. The team opened with four straight wins and played a creditable game against AA school Seacrest in the Pompano Beach Invitational Tournament. One of the big events of the season was the opening of our new gymnasium. A full house of T400 fans saw the game. The boys responded to the enthusiasm and beat another AA school, Northeast. ln the second St. Andrews game the team set a record that future Nova teams will find very difficult to beat. They scored TTT points in this game with every team member contributing to the scoring column. Later against Riverside Military Academy another oddity occured. The Titans won a thrilling game in two overtimes without scoring a field goal in either overtime. The last regular season game against Carol City, the Titans overcame a nine point deficit early in the fourth quarter, later to win by nine points. Coach Charlie Ward ' Page Worthy
