WE FOREWORD IN PREPARING THIS YEAR BOOK FOR YOU WE HAVE HAD SEVERAL IDEALS BEFORE US. WE FEEL THAT A SENIOR YEAR BOOK SHOULD DEAL WITH THE SENIOR CLASS RATHER THAN WITH THE SCHOOL AS A WHOLE. WE BELIEVE THAT THE BOOK SHOULD BE PAID FOR BY THE SCHOOL RATHER THAN BY ADVERTISERS. WE HAVE DONE OUR BEST, THIS YEAR, TO PRODUCE A SIMPLE AND ECONOMICAL BOOK WHICH BOTH FOL- LOWED THE BEST MODERN PRACTICES AND RETAINED THE FINEST FEATURES OF PREVIOUS ANNUALS. WE WISH TO THANK THE FACULTY AND STUDENTS FOR THE SUPPORT WHICH MADE THIS PROGRAM POSSIBLE. .QD Page thrcc qv jour THE FACULTY THE FACULTY FREDERICK J. Bierce, Principal N. Y. U.. B.S. HAROLD J. Individually and collecfively, we claim no parTicular disTincTion oTher Than being The usual group of earnesf young Americans in search of academic knowl- edge. On our enTry inTo NoTTingham, we found a young high school. in which school spiriT and aThleTic pride were as yeT in The formafive sTage. Our freshman year was passed, like every fresh- man year. in becoming acquainfed wiTh high school meThods, and in sTriving To surmounT The academic obsfacles which make Their appearance The firsT year of high school. Our sophomore year found our numbers slighTly depleTed, buT To oTfseT This depleTion of numbers was born a class consciousness which manifesfed iTself in a more closely kniT uniTy and a beTTer acquainTance wiTh our fellow classmaTes. We sTill walked in awe of The faculTy, feared The frown of The ianiTor, and if we remember cor- recTly, spenT The greaTer porTion of The year Trying To evade lvlr. Peper, who, as inspecTor of lunch permifs, was endeavoring To promoTe The populariTy of our school cafeTeria. As juniors, we made The acquainTance of such members of The faculTy as had noT hiTherTo direcTed our acTiviTies, and also labored wiTh The harder subiecfs of The curriculum. ln The fall of ThaT year, we wiTnessed and Took parT in The firsT NoTTingham Revue, which was given wiTh such success ThaT The annual presenfafion of a Revue is now an esTablished cusTom. Our Senior Year finds us proud of The facT ThaT we are Seniors, proud of The subiecfs we Page thirty-four have masTered, buT noT Too proud To remember and sympaThize wiTh The Trials of The younger classes as They are accusfoming Themselves To Their new surroundings. Our class was organized on February 6, l93l, when we elecTed Linsell Seaman presidenT, Jane Bradley vice-presidenT, Fredericka Honsinger secreTary. and Duncan Thomson Treasurer. Our presidenT Then ap- poinTed Helen VincenT as chairman of The Dance CommiTTee and WalTer Robinson as chairman of The Banquef CommiTTee. Our Senior Dance proved To be The usual brillianT and inspiring affair for which our boy members had been pracficing so many weeks. IT was held in The NoTTingham Gymnasium. under The supervision and chaperonage of The faculTy, and closed quieTly aT The hour of Twelve mid- nighT, according To The immemorial cusTom of William NoTTingham High School. Our Banquet held aT SchrafT's on The evening of May 20, was an excellenT affair. Our presi- denT, Linsell Seaman, acTed as ToasTmasTer. Brief Talks by Mr. Bierce and The faculTy advisors and The reading of The Will and The Prophecy were feaTures of The evening program. These Two social evenTs precede graduaTion, which is The climax of our career, and The su- preme evenT anTicipaTed by each member of our class. GraduaTion will, of course, be held in The school audiTorium, and we look forward To iT wiTh pride in our pasT achievemenTs, wiTh sorrow aT parTing from our dear friends and classmaTes, and wiTh appropriaTe humiliTy as we consider The Trials and TribulaTions of life which come afTer This closing ceremony of our high school career. ln farewell, we give you our class flower, WhiTe Rose, and reiTeraTe our class moTTo.
