Secrets Envelop Prom THERESA ANN RUBY You give but little when you give of your possessions; it is when you give of yourself that you truly give! Kahil Gibran KIMBERLY CARMEN RUIZ My life is my message. Mahatma Ghandi . . . them all. Some of the secrets that gnawed at the seniors were those of where the prom would be held, what would be the theme, who would be the band, and—most crucial of all—where could they find a date? Some seniors were more philosophical from the very beginning. “I can’t wait for prom; for one thing we’ll be out of school, and for another I’ve already planned to have a great time.” exclaimed Anna Thorpe. May was the time for tearful goodbyes. The affec- tion and love that each senior felt for the other was brought out in deeply emotional expressions when the senior class got together for their last retreat. The re- treat offered a time for special goodbyes, goodbyes that could only be said together and away from all the cra- ziness that would be graduation. The countdown was finally down to zero. Class of ’82 Bid Adieu . . . senior projects were scheduled to begin. For two weeks the senior class performed various volunteer jobs; they were involved in everything from working with the handicapped to helping out at P.M. Magazine. Graduation seemed slow to come—the preparations endless, the days numerous. Traditionally one of the toughest jobs of the senior year is picking out a gradu- ation dress. Trying to get 56 females to agree on one dress is a feat in itself. The senior class, however, showed their unity when, during the preliminary dress showings all 56 agreed on a dress that would be sent to the finals. This same dress received an almost unanimous vote at the finals. Eventually exams were over for those unfortunate few who had to take them, and graduation day ar- rived. The mass for the graduates and their parents gave the students a chance to be alone with their par- ents before the hectic day of graduation began. After- wards there were preparations and more preparations. Finally the time arrived; the tense and uneasy feeling convulsed through each graduate, as a name that her mind kept signalling was her own was called. The walk seemed forever, and yet afterwards too short. There were many parties afterwards and more tearful goodbyes; joyously, regretfully, and inevitably senior CAREY ELOISE WIUCERSON Those who wish to be must put aside the inner motion, get on with the fascination, the real- ization. and underlying theme. Rush ANN MARIE WINTERS I wouldn't change one memory 'cause it means too much to me. I wouldn't have missed it for the world. Ronnie Milsap year came to an end. Seniors 95
