Senioritis Hi Victims . . . the burning of their 30 Days to a Better Vocabu- lary book added a new spark to the meaning of learn- ing, at least fcr an hour or two, while also managing to wind up first semester. But as Kansas City experienced an early spring, it became increasingly more difficult for many seniors to concentrate. The mystery of precalculus became one big unsolvable puzzle; the mysteries of French gram- mar one big blur; the delving into the secrets of the mind in psychology became a trip that no one wanted to take, and physics experiments quickly turned into exercises to test the limits of the students’ patience. The search for a normal week and the mystery of the ever-changing class schedule plagued many seniors. If the schedule was not being . . . Grads Count the Days . . . altered by a mass, a guest speaker, a faculty meeting or a special day; it was being interrupted by the weather. Such inconsistencies made it almost im- possible to memorize a schedule. If the impossible was accomplished and someone did manage to memorize her schedule, her work was found to be in vain, when, at second semester, the class schedules were revised. For the majority of seniors second semester was the one to be enjoyed. Many seniors couldn’t help but count down the days till release. For some their final semester signified a much easier class load and tense anticipation concerning acceptances from various col- leges. Second term also offered to several seniors a spring break trip to Padre Island, Texas. Spring offered an end to winter and the beginning of prom preparations. This was the final dance for seniors and the most spectacular one of . . . A. Nancy Franke puzzles over an essay for the Great Novels Course. B. Karen Keim is caught napping during French class. C. Monica Oothout recites a Span- ish poem in full costume during Spanish class. D. A group of Seniors toast each other during a movie break. E. During physics class. Anna Thorpe concentrates on measuring vibrations. 90 Seniors
