Class Survives Exams For others such as Jill Schaaf, seniorhood really hit home during college application time. I really felt like a senior when the pressure for getting out our college applications started.” Though first semester started off rather badly for the seniors with a loss to the Juniors by 4 cents in carnival ticket sales, it was soon livened up again with the start of senior lunch privileges. “I think it’s a great break from the routine of the school day, even if you don’t go out to eat; it’s kind of nice to be able to just go to the park and relax,” commented one senior. As the fall season got underway, the prospects of a great senior year seemed even better when three Sion senior girls were nominated for homecoming queen at Rockhurst. The fall was brightened even more when Alyce Johnson, a senior from Sion, was chosen queen. Fall soon turned into winter, with the approach of what would, hopefully, be for many their last Sion ex- ams. Many seniors could do no more than exclaim, “Thank God they’re over!” For a while there was doubt about whether or not there would be a Sion Christmas Dance; the snow seemed relentless. Luckily Mother Nature did finally give way, and the Christmas Dance was held, with Stasi Connelly as queen. For many A.P. English students . . . Senioritis Hi Victims . . . the burning of their 30 Days to a Better Vocabu- lary book added a new spark to the meaning of learn- ing, at least fcr an hour or two, while also managing to wind up first semester. But as Kansas City experienced an early spring, it became increasingly more difficult for many seniors to concentrate. The mystery of precalculus became one big unsolvable puzzle; the mysteries of French gram- mar one big blur; the delving into the secrets of the mind in psychology became a trip that no one wanted to take, and physics experiments quickly turned into exercises to test the limits of the students’ patience. The search for a normal week and the mystery of the ever-changing class schedule plagued many seniors. If the schedule was not being . . .
