Frosh Excel In Sports Retreat! Mr. Ken Fuenfhausen had a hand in the confidential notes given to the freshmen by their big sisters on this special day. “When I read the letter it put a smile on my face, said Mary Whittaker of the letter she received from Astrid Abaqueta, her big sis- ter. By the end of the year, the freshmen, led by second semester president Mimi Nigro, had unveiled their ex- traordinary talents in sports. In basketball, volleyball, tennis and softball the freshmen teams excelled. They appeared in gangs to sign up for each sport. They also had impressive turnouts for both the Sion productions. Sophs Make Big Splash A key clue to the sophomore class could be detected at the summer Splash Party given for incoming fresh- men. Good organization mixed with hyperenergy pro- duced a successful initiation into Sion for the newcom- ers. The sophomores continued to pamper their little buddies with secretly organized treats of mile-high pies and custom-designed Halloween suckers. The little buddies’ tummies were quite content, although their complexions might have suffered from the TLC. On the other hand . . .
