Actors Master Dialect As the final curtain closed and applause reached their ears, the cast of I Remember Mama” breathed a sigh of relief. Despite being snowed out twice, the spring production was obviously a success. “It was a superb production, and everybody put their all into it,” commented Leacy Tucker about the casts’ efforts. Composed mostly of Sophomores, the cast and crew impressed the audience with their mastery of the Norwegian accent. Even though speaking their lines with the unaccustomed pronounciation was difficult, they stuck with it to add an authentic element to the play. The enthusiasm of the cast for the first spring pro- duction in several seasons was reflected by Tina Martin when she commented, It was great! I’m ready to do it again!” Although a lot of the students in the audience at- tended the play with some hesitation, they were pleasantly surprised. Said Katy Heilman, “It was much better than I had anticipated. I was thoroughly entertained.” A. Clare Nicholson lights up the play. B. Kathy Dresel, Susan McQueeney. Sara Morrison, and Kathy Connelly show off the early 1900’s styles used for the Spring Production. C. Sara Rocha waits on Kathy Connelly and Allyson Sprenger during practice. D. Papa (Dave Collins). Cafe Creates Romance Un Soir en Paris” (A Night in Paris) was the theme of the Spring Dance sponsored by the Sophomore Class. It was definitely a night to remember. The care- fully designed setting and backdrop represented a sidewalk cafe in the romantic city of Paris. With gleaming stars and lighted trees, the Grande Salle contained nothing but good vibrations from all the en- thusiastic people who danced to the music of “Sardonyx”. Sophomores responsible for planning and carrying out the successful night were Stella Hannon (Chairperson), Gail Vaughn (refreshments), Jeanine Ferro (band), Mary Nestel and Beth Berkshire (decora- tions), and Helen Bowman (clean-up). They were seen several days after school hauling articles from the graveyard” and making other arrangements to make the dance a special occasion. The evening concluded with the crowning of the dance queen and her court. Applause burst forth from the dancers and their dates when the winners were announced: Sharon Wilkerson, queen; Ann Novosel, Gina Farrell, attendants. Following a special selection played to honor the court, the freshmen and sopho- more girls and their dates bid “Adieu to their “Soir en Paris”. 36 Spr ng Dance
