“Fiddler” Raises Roof Enthusiastic shouts of “Tradition” hailed the audi- ence at the opening of Fiddler on the Roof’ on Fri- day night, November 13. The spirit continued through- out the two remaining performances and brought the crowd to its feet after the final show on Sunday. The actors were not the only ones to be congratulat- ed for much hard work and effort. The crews behind the scene also brought the magic of “Fiddler” to life. The set and lighting crews transformed the Grande Salle into the small Russian village of Anatevka. The colorful costumes showed attention to even the most minute details. For the first time in Sion’s history, a musical was ac- companied by a band, created and conducted by Mr. B.C. Bundy, the overall director of the production. “The band could never have done as well without Mr. Bundy’s help,” stated Laurel Hughes, a band member. Student Director Kathy Farnsworth and the cast also received help and encouragement from Mr. Bay and Miss Fasci. Stop being high school students and be the people you say you are,” urged Mr. Bay “You have to believe that you are the character before the audi- ence can believe it.” The audience response certainly proved that the cast achieved the goal it sought. ‘T thought it was the best play that Sion has ever put on!” exclaimed Jeannie Koenig. 28 Fall Production

Blizzard Enhances Wonderland’s Success Long before Sion got into the swing of the Christ- mas Season, Seniors began planning their rendition of a Winter Wonderland” for Christmas Dance. Under the direction of Staci Connelly, the class rounded up sleighs, tinsel, and bells to decorate the Grande Salle. When the day of the dance arrived, the seniors set out to produce a wintery scene for the coming event. While some girls were busily pro- ducing paper snowflakes. Mother Nature produced quite a few of her own, and the dance was almost cancelled. Luckily, though, the blizzard-like snow ceased, and the dance went on as planned. The couples arrived safely, in spite of the weath- er, and danced to the sounds of Jeoparty.” Then the music stopped and Nancy Fennessy, senior class president, announced the Queen, Staci Connelly. Her attendants were Michelle Brouillette, Janie Vader, Connie Scavuzzo, and Patty Flack. After two more hours of dancing, everyone bun- dled up and headed out into the icy cold, carrying warm memories of a “Winter Wonderland. 30 Christmas Dance
