StuCo Animates Agenda “Student Council meetings were well organized this year,” commented Kathy Farnsworth, a senior who served on the council for four years. The Student Coun- cil, an organization open to anyone in the school, was conducted by the vote of class presidents and three StuCo officers: President, Jeannie Koenig; Vice Presi- dent, Bridget Huerter; and Secretary, Rita Koehler. Fac- ulty members Charlene Mankameyer and Alice Munninghoff supervised the council’s activities. The pressures on Jeannie were tremendous. She met with Mrs. Munninghoff each week to work out the agenda and organize events in and out of school. The students who attended the StuCo meetings agreed that the meetings ran well, and they accomplished many things; however they felt the activity period left limited time for the meetings. “I would like to see more people coming to the meetings, so that the council would be more involved with the school, thus giving Sion more spirit,” commented Jeannie Koenig. Mrs. Munninghoff stated, “I am satisfied with the Student Council and pleased with the officers; however I would like to see it more active, visible, and involved with day-to-day things.” A few of the 1981-1982 StuCo's accomplishments were the Country-Western Dance, Sion’s Feast Day, the Thanksgiving and Christmas drives for Seton Center, and a very successful Arts Day. A. Helen Bowman portrays a doll com- ing to life during Arts Day. B. Stephanie Haughton and Jim Ochoa at the Country Western Dance get in the swing. C. Clubs Raise Enthusiasm Who is behind one of the most common mysteries in high schools today, the mystery of the source of school spirit? The answer is the Pep Club. At Sion this group was instrumental in running the sports concession stands and in generating spirit in the stu- dent body to ensure support for the Sionian teams. The Pep Club also helped coordinate the annual athletic banquet. In Sion’s priorities school spirit is second only to academics; therefore Pep Club is a fundamental part of student activities. Aiding the Pep Club in maintaining school spirit was the Poster Club. The invisible hands that drew announcements for bake sales, salad luncheons, and other special events belonged to members of this group. Keeping students informed in attractive, visi- ble ways was the job of the Poster Club. Pep and Poster CIubs 23
