1981 Breaks Tradition The 1982 Carnival developed into the biggest success in the school’s history with a profit of $24,527. The Ju- nior Class, which started at the bottom, suddenly caught fire and wound up Number One in ticket sales. Their victory broke the tradition of senior supremacy, but by the bare margin of four cents per student! Bridget Blaise, Junior Class President, remarked, “I felt very discouraged at first, but knew the Juniors could do it.” Carnival spirit grew steadily under the challenging direction of Mr. Mike Haughton, who succeeded Mr. Bill McCroy as adult chairman of the sales effort, and Ann Winters, student chairman. Special honors went to individual ticket sales champs Liz Humphrey, Kathy Wickey, Claire Nicholson, and Lisa McClain, whose names will be engraved on the Bill McCroy Memorial Plaque presented to Mrs. McCroy by Sister Stephanie in appreciation for the nine years Mr. McCroy gave to the Carnival efforts. A popular new attraction for Carnival '81 was the dunk tank. Faculty, students, and parents took the icy plunge for fun and profit. A B A. Linda Estevez shows Shea Brennan her new image. B.
