Although a comparati eI young institution at Sion, the Father-Daughter Dinners have already taken a high place in the unwritten hook of traditions. They are as eagerly anticipated as the Christmas or Faster holidays and what girl, little or big doesn't derive a special thrill from “dressing up” just for Daddy? As it is impossible to accomodate all the students and their fathers at one time in one locale, three separate dinners are usually held. Upon arriving for the festive occasion, the girls go immediately to their classrooms while the fathers are served punch and make the acquaintance of one another in the dining-room. Later they are joined by their daughters and from there proceed to the Grand Salle where many tables have been beautifully set. A delicious dinner prepared by the mothers is then served and a short speech is given by an invited guest. The evening is wound up in singing familiar songs, ending appropri- ately with one honoring the mothers. Loaded down with the present he received from Santa whom he has just met, this little boy looks extremely happy at the Christmas party. On the night of February 14th. our gym was the scene of a St. Valentine’s Mixer. Boys from Rockhurst, Pern-Day, Southwest, Wyandotte, Hogan and De La Salle were present. The gym was gaily decorated in colors of red and white. Father Leo Wobido, S. J. from St. Louis, was the Master of Ceremonies and general promoter of the affair, which included everything from El Raspa to the “dramatic” touch of Ophelia and Hamlet.
