Dioqmplne De Nionseiqneuv mera-F. Julienne Gagnon '5 6 O, ff. Bousqllct, ptrc. Nouvul ordonn-5 Pecicaux r ouvenirs , f - lv A 'S Epi 5 fyr 5 u ef -4 Qui l'a pris? Votre ministere 51 Franklin a are excellent ! Bousquet. Olive Caron, '5 6 AUTUMN I saw Autumn when she came She was dressed in brown and Hame: Miraculous sight to see No matter where we may be. I saw Autumn when she left Of all her beauty bereft. Now comes winter with her charms To be met with open arms. Cecile Bilodeau. '5 6 SNOWFLAKES I love to watch the snowflakes fall From heaven on a wintry eve, And watch them dance on trees so tall, Where autumn blew away the leaves. I love the whiteness of the flakes, When tumbling low, they reach the ground: I love the patterns which they make, Whirling till each hilltop's crowned. Monique Deschenes, '56 STA RS When the moon is full and clear and bright And all the world has said l'Good-night , I love to look into the sky To watch the twinkling stars go by. l love to see them all aglow Be they either high or low, These balls of fire in the night These stars that God made for our light. Claire Labrecque '5 6 NOVEMBER The soil is hard and cold. The morning frost is new: The trees are looking old, November winds are due. The birds are gone away The days are getting short: The snow is on its way November's coming forth. Genevieve Langlois, '5 6 'K CLASS IQING Such a small jewel, yet the symbol of that long-awaited important day. The day when everyone of us will be facing the problems of adult life. The day that leads us, graduates of '56, to take a special place in this progressive country, called America. This tiny ring separates the two parts of our lives: the Hrst which is our school days, and the second. OUR FUTURE. Behind, we leave our beloved Alma Mater, our Teachers, won- derful friends. happy hours, and hard work. With us we take the education we have eagerly absorbed. Ilag bearer R. Lcpngc. C. Morriss . Morrisscltc. P. Morrisscitc. As I had won the A'First Prize at the Lancaster Science Fair, I was delegated to represent New Hampshire at the Sixth National Science Fair held at the Tomlinson Hall, Case Institute of Technology, Cleveland, Ohio. Sponsored by the ever generous Monsignor O. Bousquet, the Notre Dame Arena Corporation, and the Brown Company, I made the trip with the two science teachers and Father Provost who graciously furnished his car. I had put in a lot of work, many hours of my leisure time, and quite an amount of money from my petty cash in this project: 'Experiments with Hamsters in genetics, with hormones and antibiotics : but I was well repaid by the trip to Cleveland and the winning of a prize. The I36 finalists who displayed exhibits came from all points of the United States. I was awarded the Second Prize in the Biological Field . I was proud of this honor for my School, my City. and my State. ALBERT AUBE, 5 6 Ms' Our Budding Scientists Work F ffwkw 5 As We Were. January 4, was the official opening day for the 1956 Sports Fiesta, Each class elected a candidate whom they hoped would be their queen. I am proud to state that I was chosen to represent the Senior class. The other happy can- didates were as follows: Junior, Jeannette Parent: Sophomore, Lorraine Mar- chand: and Freshman, Anita Couture. All the students were eager and ready to sell their pink, blue, yellow or green tickets. All were determined to make their candidate their queen. Everyone did his share and waited anxiously for the day the votes would be counted. Before we realized that two weeks had already elapsed, we were sitting in the library counting votes. I don't remember the time when I was so shaky as that day. One hour and a half later, the following results were announced to the student body. I, Louise Groleau, won my title with 16,492 votes: the runner-up Anita Couture, representing the proud Freshmen, had a total of 15,361 votes: the happy Sophomores had 13,363 votes in favor of Lorraine Marchand: the Junior candidate, Jeannette Parent, had 11,698 votes. All classes were proud of their candidate, for no one had really lost. All had worked so hard and devoted themselves so much that I would have liked to share my crown and title with one and all. Ex-Queen May Lafleur Crowns Queen Louise Ciroleau January l9T Coronationf An evening filled with memoriesf As the curtain opened. May Lafleur. the l955 Fiesta Queen was wearing her crown and occupying her throne for the last time. After a long applause the M.C.. Senior president Victor Grenier announced: The Sports Parade . This was the cue for our school band to strike the first notes of the martial music to which our athletes marched from the stage to form a court of honor for the new Queen. ln came the Cheerleaders led by Captain Madeleine Ouellette, and Mascot Claudette Theriault. Our famous Hockey Team preceded by their Co-Captains Robert Baillargeon and Richard Lacroix were next in line. Then Captain Raymond Roche marched in followed by the Basketball Team. Last, came the Girls' Basketball Team with Co-Captain Candide Corriveau. fThe other Co-Captain is May Lafleur 1955 Fiesta Queen who was enjoying the last moments of her glory.b All stood at attention! As the band changed to the solemn rhythm of Marche Processionnelleu, the flag-bearers, Normand Belanger and Roland Lepage, opened the procession. Jeannette Parent followed. Lorraine Marchand soon fell in step also. after whom came Anita Couture. and that was my cue. l marched up to the throne followed by page-boys Normand Bouchard and .lean-Louis Ouellette who carried the train of my royal mantle. At last. the real thrilling momentf Ex-queen May Lafleur, also a Senior, gently relin- quished her crown and adorned me with the symbol of her past glory. This was the first time in the Sports Fiesta history that a Senior queen was crowned by a Senior ex-queen. The Seniors surely had the spotlight on them this year. I I 1 Reverend Father Provost presents the Father Lauziere Trophy Father Provost presented me the Father Lauziere Trophy on which my name will be engraved as HSeventh Fiesta Queen . As this cup will remain at school, I received a smaller cup as a souvenir. The ladies-of-honor also re- ceived beautiful souvenir cups. Then. the school and our classmates showered us with gifts, flowers and good wishes. While I was sitting there on the throne I had a feeling of happiness which is hard to express, but I wished I could have shared it with everyone .... and the big moment was over! It wasn't a dreamf I had been crowned Queen! To the rhythm of a solemn recessional, we marched under an arch of hockey sticks to the observation balcony. This time we were accompanied by our escorts. Donald Rivard was my escort. The others were: Junior. Paul Ross: Sophomore. Regis Leclerc: Freshman, Paul Morrissette: Richard Routhier escorted the ex-queen. The next event was a thrilling basketball game between Notre Dame High and Lincoln High School. I tossed the ball and the game was on. So ended a perfect eveningl In my bouquet of memories this is a never to be forgotten event. But never could I have reached such a goal without the support of my parents, my teachers. my classmates, and the generous people of Berlin. So to all who contributed to my glory, I say a most grateful 'THANK YOU l Fiesta Queen LoU1sE GROLEAU, '56 QUEEN LOUISE ASCENDS THE STEPS TO THE THRONE THE ROYAI. COURT icharci Roulhier.
