Y ALL ABDUT? WHAT UNTIL THE END You do not have to be my guide, Though I will follow. You do not have to be my shadow, Though I will lead. You only need to walk with me . . With me down the winding road Of laughter and sorrow. Together we shall see it all. From not until the end, We shall be forever friends. Cherry Kim '82 l I 6

N.D. STUDENTS REALL .YA BRIGHT LIGHTS They are beckoning me to another time, another dimension of my life A time, when I make all the decisions and all the mistakes. They are telling me to grow up, and to stand up for what I believe in, A time, when I fight to the finish even though I know I will eventually lose They are begging me to appreciate things as they are, and to dance under the warm sun, A time, when I find my place in this world, no matter how small it may be. I am like the small lingering light that tries so hard to be seen in the deep black sky. Nicole DeLaurentis 82

POET, I AM NOT I dream of the unimaginable. I hope for the improbable. I speak of the inconceivable. I seek the untouchable. Others ask why I dream, Why I hope, Why I speak, Why I seek. Sometimes, I too wonder. They say there are sometimes no answers, For they'll never know the questions. They say there is no end to prejudice, For their middle name is black and white. They say we are all equal, For man was meant to be above women. I say no. There will always be answers if we seek. There will be no prejudice if we hope. There will be true equality if we speak. Some say we are doomed, there is no hope. I say no. Many ask why protest, it is futile. I say no. Others say there is never peace without war. Again, I say no. Why do I refer to these people as: They, Some, Many, Others? For I am unique. Perhaps even rare. Why is this so? To some I am a black sheep. I say no . .. I am rare. To some I am only a fool. Isayno Iam me. To some I am a dreamer. I say no . . . I am only dissatisfied. They say some, many, and others are Observers and followers. They only know what they are taught. Thinking for themselves no longer exists. Perhaps it never did. I am not a robot who listens to others. I am an individual . . . An individual concerned with: The past, Present, And future . . . if there is to be one. Things change over time . . . Places, ideas, morals. I cannot stand still and watch, At least not when I am unhappy. People say dreams and reality can not mix. I say no. What am I really? I am . . . an IDEALIST. Cherry Kim '82 ARE N.D
