M ' ic 'G ff f SISTER CATHERINE DOLORES Vice-Principal From loving Mozart to loving choral, Sister Catherine Dolores' life sings of what it is to look at the world with new eyes. Into her duties as Vice -Principal , which range from counselling uncertain students to mending messy computer data Sister puts that extra gift of her whole self, which transforms the everydayness of her iob into the specialness ofa love -action. 3 mtI1t3tI positively serving the person in every facet of education. Director of Residents Director of Guidance Sensitivity makes Sister Raymond Teresa so special and all of life so special to her. Her realization that the awesomeness of living is contained in seemingly inconsequential details enables her to be deeply and delicately aware of people, a vital quality for a mistress of residents and guidance director. Quietly absorbing the goodness of the situation at hand , Sister has hidden under her simple exterior the profoundest beauty. SISTER TERESA AUGUSTINE Principal Sister Teresa Augustine's concern is un- definable . In speaking to us of honor and the nobility of true scholarship, Sister offers a very feminine sensitivity to our inherent need to respond fully to the process of thought. Sister calls to our youth and pursues with her whole self the challenge which we offer. gf 4. L I SISTER MARK CARMEL Dean of Students She walks with assurance and applies the spirit rather than the letter of the law . It is not an easy task , that of Dean of Women, for high school women are too often girls Iwith the accompanying problemsl. Gently but firmly, Sister Mark Carmel guides us towards maturity, and we can but daily praise her generosity. f ig ,,- 4 :ff ' -gangs 5 H WQETQ' . 1 4 . 3. wiki 1 - i ' N a -1 x 521 ' .1 v 'n,1,'il. . . 2' ,, 'nz ' If 1 ' 3.35. -4 :T - ,1- fa sg n, , ,n ,' 'nr 2,32 is 4 713' F N Q. .Age--, ,wiki ?. sq, 1 .:?lL fe ' S: 4,'v -4 fx, Ap ' . . 1 f, Fi ,fr T ,Q - x , s ' gs 1 Tk L, J'W,M ff' is A wk s is gf s, 1 E, xg ff , ,, uf f 2- eff Y ' -x .J 5' -A N' F' .ss , Mr. Mahoney, Vice-President of the Dads' Club, and Mrs. Mangini, President of the Mothers' Club. Wonder and sometimes :onfusion result in physics, chemistry, and biology vhen students extend their senses in a search for truth . Ndventurous girls open themselves to the awesome nysteries of reality . They discover that science, far :rom being mere abstract theory, involves the whole- 1ess of existence itself. ' ART The Art Department swings in total freedom. By. the demand of medium and form, students learn to discover freedom through discipline . They are given new vision with which they discover every innuendo of life . IANGUAGE To take on the mentality of another people is vital to the study of a foreign' language and to the development of a deep-rooted respect for men whose environment is different from our own . The Language Department aims toward the celebration of the brotherhood of all men through its efforts to give this necessary insight into the many ways in which men throughout the world 'ive and communicate . MUSIC The customary breach between musician and audience is bridged at Notre Dame where the universality of man's oldest self-expression is stressed . Music and rhythm find their way into the secret places of the soul. To prove Plato contemporary must necessarily be a daily undertaking, and daily are we confronted with the multi-colored facets of music . HISTORY History is the story of man and his search for the best way to live and to be hu- man . The History Depart- ment communicates to its students the experiences of the past from which the present has been formed . ln this way students are able to understand and use these happenings to create - that better future which all men 'seek . v k:i , ' N I , il-4 1 Ei za is if IT' I . a dramatic monologue, Mary Louise ENGLISH l ickey brings to life'THE BARRETTS ' V 5 F WIMPOLE STREET- As young women we need to be hungry for new insights. Literature, since it explores our own unique nature, has the power to strengthen, beautify, and Christianize us . We can be transformed by our 'contact with the magic of words . Literature illustrates our sorrows, ioys, ten- sions, and needs, and allows our spirit to grow in its ability to wonder. lf we sense this wonder, the full excitement of our transformation will begin to satisfy our hunger iust enough to let us reach out for more . Searching scientists Janice'Finn and Mary Malgoire calculate chemical accuracy. g RELIGION anal.. The search for truth is a search having infinite dimensions . lt must involve personal exploration of every touch of life and of the Love-Being we call God . The religion class L seeks to draw out individual perception, and in struggling to speak clearly of things not understood , students become powerfully involved in ioy, in suffering, in ideas, and in one another. The process is not completed but is rather be gun, for each perception reveals infinite dimensions to be discovered in manls celebration of truth . Through the courtesy of Notre Dame, Salinas, Winnie the Pooh and Company also got to join in the Fine Arts Day celebration . ir The goodness of Fine Arts Day was twofold . On March 4, not only did students participate in a total response to art through music, dra- ma, dance, and visual art, but they also had a chace to meet and share with girls from other Notre Dame high schools in a way not possible at any other type of inter-school function . The room resounded with the music ofthe Renegades' and the Feast prepared by the Continental Caterers was beautiful as well as delicious.
