Applied Math, Chemistry, Senior Advanced Science, Junior Class Freshman Moderator, Tennis Coach Moderator, J.V. Volleyball Coach ,nv When asked if she enjoys teaching here at N.D., Miss Schulte declared, without hav- ing to think twice, Yes, I really do! Could it be that she answered too quickly? ls she trying to convince us, and herself? Did she even want to be a teacher in the first place? Miss Schulte said herself that she originally was an aspiring pattern drafter. She says she was extremely shy and quiet, never saying three words, throughout high school. Mr. Bellah, who nurtured her young artistic abilities, had this to add to this description of a high school aged Miss Schulte: While attending, she was only two feet, three inches tall so we hardly saw her for the first three years. She did excellent work on a small scale after we cut the pencils in half so they wouldn't be too heavy and sat her on two chairs. lf Mr. Bellah is correct, how could she handle her cooking, sew- ing, camping, and fishing Cher hobbiesj? Since she never planned on returning to N.D. Miss Schulte was asked what prompted her homecoming after five years of college and one year of teaching nursery school? She replied that she liked the at- mosphere of going to school here. She realized, though, that students' attitudes have changed greatly since her stu- dent years here. Students are more vocal now, she said, and that's better than not saying anything. Miss Schulte declared that teaching Home Ec. here is fun because she likes work- ing with kids. Although she likes being a teacher more, she still knows what being a stu- dent is Iike because she is still taking classes at Cal Poly. The best thing about going to school at N.D. was summed up by Miss Schulte herself - the spirit and the friends. Faculty 93
