anslt ootlsall Frustration is a one word summation of the 1973 Titan Football Campaign. This frustration was due to the injury of 6 starters in the first 4 games, and to the inexperience of not only the players, but of the coach as well. Coach Barry Meier started his first year as a high school head coach. But there were a few bright spots. Turning spectacular seasons, were seniors Kip Poutre, All Arrowhead defensive player of the year, and team M.V.P. Derek Polk, the All League halfback who set a new team rushing record of 933 yards, Robbie Meier, All League team lineman of the year, Vince Costa, Honorable Mention, offensive and defensive tackle, and Cary Voll, All League starting offensive guard. The other returning senior lettermen, Pat Gorman, and Lou Magana, also had a good year. Other Seniors on the team were DB's Tom Rizzo, Frank Mankin, WR's Brian Gay, Pat Daniels, Kicker Louie Magana, Linemen Jake De Ruyter and Mickey Suinga. There is good speculation for next year with 22 returning lettermen and a year's experience for Coach Meier.
