' if T f . fr fufwffw r , ' W ,, mfmu.,ff ,J f , What pride is all about There is an old adage which says something to the effect that if you are going to do something you should do it well, and to the best of your ability. ln other words, any goal attempted, or achieved should be done so with a certain amount of pride. Pride in this sense is not arrogance or conceit, but rather a genuine sincerity and belief in whatever one does. To some, Notre Dame's stress on pride seemed a bit overwhelming and superfluous. Yet the pride ND hopes to share with every person involved with her is a beautiful and fine quality. Pride is demonstrated in many ways, and each individual does have something in particular to be especially proud of. It was displayed at ND in many ways this year, from our dedicated athletes and pep squads to those students striving for high academic standing. lt takes something special to be willing to give your all to a cause and that something is pride. This deep sense of worth and value of oneself and of every individual is indeed personal, but with everything there is strength in numbers. If each person could share and experience the value of every person 2!Theme they meet as well as their personal worth, the world would be a beautiful place to live in. But people must first care .... Perhaps that is what ND tries to bring forth in each person, their sense of personal worth as well as that of the school as a whole. lt is not something that will be at- tained in one easy lesson. Rather it is the experience of a lifetime. However, one must be willing to reach out and discover, and share. What a fantastic way to be known: Notre Dame - a school with pride. Not many can make that claim. Let us always work together to make ND's pride her most prominent asset. A start? Take pride in yourself. You as an individual are something extraordinary and precious. And that's what pride is all about.
