Kris Kringle tradition is kept at Notre Dame Christmastime activities at Notre Dame were highlighted by Kris Kringle and the traditional school decorating contest. The seniors were to decorate the gym, the juniors were in charge of the library, and the gaily bedecked halls were credited to the sophomores and freshmen. To climax the Christmas season, the Student Council sponsored the annual Christmas Ball, using the theme Christmas is . . . Joy . The events of this joyous season helped to get everybody into the true spirit of Christmas and make it a more meaningful celebration for us all. 0? Mary Lou Rafter reigns as 1972-73 Homecoming Queen Alter a rainy day of afternoon celebrations and float dis- plays, Homecoming night brought the anticipation of Notre Dame students to a climax. The mighty Titans defeated Sherman by a score of 40-0. But that was only the beginning of the happiness to come. Though the regular announcement of Homecoming Queen at half time was cancelled due to weather, a presentation was held nevertheless at a dance immediately after the game. As midnight approached, the princesses were escorted to the stage and a hushed silence fell over the gym. The name of Mary Lou Flafter had scarcely been pronounced when the deafening cheering of students and faculty alike filled the building. Filled with quiet, beaming happiness, Queen Mary Lou was crowned by 1971-72 Queen Mary Kraemer, and another joyous Homecoming drew to a close. n ..e.f,Q55ss-. ., TOP: Tom Telliard and Tina Loper enjoy the Homecoming festivities.
