ROBERT MAILLOUX, 8.M. Pastor We are proud to welcome REVEREND ROBERT J. MAILLOUX, S.M. as shepherd of our souls this year, for we had benefited greatly from his kindness, understanding and patience inthe past. Through his scholarship and fatherliness, which are the means he uses to communicate his priestly virtues and love of God to those confided to his care, we know that Notre Dame will soar to greater heights. It is with sincere and humble gratitude that we pause onthe eve of our graduation to thank Father Mailloux, and to ask his blessing on the life that lies ahead. TO KNOW MARY AND mee TO MAKE HER LOVED We acknowledge the presence ofone, who, in an unassuming and gentle way, has be- come forus a source of inspiration--a symbol of all that is noble and true. Notre Dame is proud to have in her midst REV. MARCEL LAJOIE, S.M. whom she looks to as a priest of God, a counsellor of youth, anda friend to all. We look forward toseeing our name onthe roster of CHI RHO members of whom Fa- ther isthe Moderator so that we may con- tinue to draw from his abundant generosity and ingenious savoir faire. Before we do, however, we want to give a fond thank-you to our teachers, whohavetriedsotirelessly during the past four years to instill in us some mea- sure of knowledge. In addition to the temporal learning much needed for a secondary school education, the Sisters have imparted clear concepts regarding our responsibilities to God andfellowmen in this atomic age. Their selfless example made us realize that in order to attain commensurate success even inthis life, we must, while striving for our own Sanctification and material advance- ment, continually service others. So, we gratefully and tenderly dedicate this volume oftheSTELLA MARIS to our FACULTY at NOTRE DAME. 11 Staffed by the Sisters PER sesue MARTZ ke} re Ay Mother Claire Gertrude won sonG. of the Holy Union Superior of the Sacred Hearts Pledgedtothe Christian formation of youth, the faculty of Notre Dame High School views the fact that each growing individual must be spiritually, mentally, andphysically equipped to keep apace with ever-pressing demands madeuponthem. In order to assisteachstu- . dent inreaching these goals, N. D. High gears its courses to these ends on a small scale. Besides the daily religious instructions of- fered the students by the Sisters, the Marist Fathers complement this pleasant chore by guided teaching and counseling, including” a three day retreat for all students. English, a natural outlet for expression, and its counterpart, the masters in literary . fame, is a daily experience. ‘ The languages, Latin and French, are a continued part of the curriculum, Extensive use of the ALM French is amust for all stu- dents. Always Rok ue to the future, N. DB, High keeps its scientific program forging ahead. The student is familiarized with modern me- thods inbiology andchemistry. PSSC Physics is taught in the senior year. UISCM Math approach has recently been adopted. Will I be working with others my own age? Are they friendly? Do they socialize after hours? Will the boss be reasonable? Appreciate good, hard work, but won’t explode if I make a mistake? Will I make a decent week’s pay? Have a chance for raises, advancement, more responsibility? How about fringe benefits? Is the work challenging? I had what it takes to get through high school. Will they give me a chance to use my brains? Note: Many young men and women in this area can answer ‘Yes’ to these questions. They work for New England Telephone Company ... New England’s largest employer. Why not talk with our employment interviewer soon... before you graduate?
