AZ ren Ea Oolume 14 published by the Senior Class The chapel at Notre Dame is a living sanctuary to every Notre Dame High School student. It is from within these hallowed walls that each student obtains a fore- taste of how lovingly Our Lady looks upon him or her, It is from this walk that each student travels back to Notre Dame High School where devoted priests and religious spend time, energy, and love endeavoring to bring each one to mature fruition, thereby enabling him to develop his potentials Spiritually, intellectually, socially, vocationally and physically. Table of Contents Dedication Administration Seniors Classes Organizations Underclassmen Athletics Commencement Advertisements 63 Within the pages of this book, we the Seniors, purpose to present a glimpse of pulsating life experienced at Notre Dame High School, Indeed it has been our privilege to be able to share, for four seemingly too-short years, joys, sorrows, aspirations, and intellectual achievements with our fellow stu- dents and devoted teachers and priest-directors. It was they who constantly kept before our minds the true purpose of edu- cation--developing the ''whole man, ' From the very first weeks spent at N.D.H. we were given many opportunities to understand that we were under our Blessed Mother's protection. As the years rolled by wecame to realize that Mary, under the title Stella Maris, is and will always be withus. She has and will continueto instruct, protect and guide au ry fe) | o@) ay So )s5 us, her children, throughout life if we but confide in her. Her work will be unrelentless and her guardianship will lead all to heaven, May the Star of the Sea of life ever be the consolation of all who pass from these ''sacred halls of ivy, 7 i ae es a As we dream of presently moving from our sheltered homes to the ceaseless working world, we pause to extend our gratitude to those so dear to us--our parents. Within our hearts we know that our achievements thus far would never have been possible without their constant guidance, tender care, and endless sacrifices which enabled us to have a fine Christian education, Despite our seeming thoughtlessness at times, we wish to proclaim to every- one that, as a small token of gratitude, we wish to dedicate this volume of the STELLA MARIS to them, our BELOVED PARENTS. We, the Class of 1964, join our prayers of _ thanks to God for having given us such wonderful parents. We beg Him to keep them close to His blessed Mother and grant them their well-deserved reward. 1atton Administration REV. LEO J. BOISSONNEAULT, S.M. Our pastor We pause to honor one whom we have known and loved for his kindness, understanding and en- couragement, In the classroom and outside of it, Father has laboured to shape our lives in the light of true Marian ideals, It is with sincere and humble gratitude that we thank Father Boissonneault and ask him to bless us before embarking on life's way. Under the direction of the Marist Fathers, the students learn to “. . . serve Him more closely, know Him more deeply, and love Him ° 3? more intensely. Seniors lead the school wisely, It is directly under the guidance of Mary, as dispensatrix of all graces that these seniors (left) Jacqueline Dumont, Robert Thorne, Daniel Brennan, (right) Donna Volpe, Marcelle Dionne, and Francis Abbott, find ''their quest for happiness. ee ee In a courtly fashion, Paul Arthur comes to Ainslea Scarotico's assistance in get- ting an answer quickly. Searching for the 'light'' in his yen for knowledge, Russell Morency enjoys the peaceful atmosphere of the library. Patricia White certainly agrees that interest + delight - thetest =the seniors' formula for stu- dying and enjoying Literature under the direction of Sister Gabrielle Maria. Sister Rose Joan, head of the Science Department, instructs Laurida Bernard in the hows of converting water into 2H, + 0, by means of electrolysis. Besides teaching the sciences, Sister deovtes a great deal of time, energy, and effort in encouraging N. College-bound seniors become better prepared for undergraduate study by pursuing the Physics course. Here the refractive property of light as it passes from one medium to another is explained by Mr. Duddy, the phy- Sics teacher, to Theresa Desharnais and Robert Port while Vivienne La- berge records the results. Manipulating the slide rule with an effi- ciency which overrules drudgery is an asset to any mathematician. Charles Milan and Paul Arthur proudly demon- strate their ability. Math IV, the stepping stone to Advanced Mathematics, is a re- quisite for all College Preparatory students. Although a Placement Bureau does not exist as such at Notre Dame, job opportunities are plentiful and the commercial students, under the di- rectorship of Sister Celine Helena, receive first choice in meeting the demands of the suburbian businessmen.
