However, only the best has happened to the Class of '56, and a look into the future will reveal what has be- come of each one of us. The year is 1986 and we behold Roger Gaudeton his way to work in the railroad yards. Roger, being the best flag signal man in the country, has been diligently practicing in preparation for the arrival of that colossal, new cross-country diesel, the Super-Duper Chief, designed by the world renowned multi-millionaire, Paul Bolduc. The train is attempting toestablishaworld record by making the non-stop trip from Hollywood to Boston in a single day. James Coughlin has also landed a job with the railroad. He is just learning the ropes of the information booth, and many people wishing to go to Maine find themselves inthe heart of California due to Jimmy's helpful MISguidance! If you look closely, youmight seea slightly corpulent lady fran- tically endeavoring to gather her brood of twelve children. This is none other than Judith Lefebvre, trying to bring her little family home to prepare some crepe-suzettes for them and her lumberjack husband, who has just returned from the north woods. Among the noted passengers on the train is the new movie star- let, Miss Jacqueline Demers, who has just completed anew release, Dr. Jacqueline and Mr. Hyde. Itis rumored that sheis being granted an Ac ademy Award for her brilliant performance. Accompanying her is her private secretary, Mr. Robert Poirier, now world famous be- cause of his sensational book, I Was A Rear Admiral for the Navy. All the employees in the sta- tion are talking about yester- day's collision. One of the por- ters, William O'Neill, trying to earn a few extra tips, was bur- dened with so many bags and suitcases that his vision was blocked. Well, you canimagine what happened. Bang!!! He barnstormed right into a com- muter.!!! They say it took him hours to round up the scattered baggage, but he managed some- how tocollectall his anticipated tips. While waiting for the train to arrive, just glance at the paper to find out what has happened to other classmates of ours. The critics are raving about a masterpiece of literature en- titled The Womanly Art of Self- Defense by Lorraine Parilla, Professional Wrestler, Hockey Player, Marble Champion, Dra- matic Actress, and Jockey. Her last book, Autobiography of a Genius in Four Volumes, “won herfameandfortune. Whatwill this one bring? ? ? The society page says that the First Lady of the 400 set, for- merly Rita Ouellette, nowMrs. Reginald N. Throckmorton III, will christen the luxury liner, S.S. Banana-Boat, today. Mrs. Throckmorton has the added privilege of having two of the ship's smoke stacks named in her honor. 36 Well, well, what's this? The celebrated Mexican guitar vir- tuoso, Pedro Gonzalez, and his vivacious spouse, the former Janet Marchand, will soon appear in New England. Mrs. Gonzalez is booked to perform her intri- cate Sombrero Dance in the Boston Garden. Free lessons will be awarded as adoor prize to the lucky ticket holder. Starred the same evening will be the master of prestidigitation, Robert Theriault, better known as Bob the Mysterious.' ' He amazed his last audience ‘by bringing about the complete dis- appearance of a subject, but, sad to say, Bob failed to bring him back and uptothis very day all his attempts have been tono avail. Some front page photos show us the brilliant research chem- ist, Miss Charlene Roberts, in her newly equipped laboratory. While performing an experiment she took an atom and placed it in a test tube for further study. All of asudden there was an ex- plosion and she found herself perched onthe uppermost branch of atree. She nimbly climbed down, however, and cheerfully undertook another project. Let's hope this one doesn't discharge and send her to the moon. You may come across the fol- lowing ads while scanning the current newspaper. Try Dr. Mary Jane Quirk's all purpose pills. Taken every night with a little nip, They will help you keep a stiff upper lip. If you get hungry while waiting, be sure togo to Boston's favorite restaurant, Menou's MulliganStew House, owned and operated by Diane Morneault. Diane is an exceedingly cordial hostess, whowill gladly give you adouble serving and perhaps tell you the secret of her superior cooking which is--Never burn water when you boil it. It would take a book to narrate the exciting life led by Anne Theriault, who went prospecting along the Yukon Trail and discovered nothing except a husband and two Alaskan Huskies weighing 150 pounds each. Make sure she doesn't talk you into visiting her onherfarm where sheis quite happy. But who wants to take the risk? Here comes the train at last and there goes the principal ticket puncher of the station, Miss Joan Daniels. She saw an ad in the paper one day re- questing a girl with punching experience. Now, everybody knows Joan used to punch down at the card parties held inOur Lady of Pity School Hall, so she obtained the position since she possessed the necessary skill. An additional treatis the appearance of that distin- guished designer of wom- en's clothing, Mrs. Nancy Williams Dior, whois sporting one of her origi- nal chapeaux. It is called the ''Peek-a-Boo Burlap Hat and a radar set ac- Companie seevery pur- chase. Our first test came at ini- tiation. We were terrified at the thought of what was in store for us and the humil- iation we would have to bear while parading about on that fatal day, dressed like six year olds carrying balloons, lollipops, dolls, and what not. The upperclassmen didn't help matters much by their teasing and taunting, but it was allinfun and when the ordeal was over, more than ever we felt a part of the school. Being teen- agers, we enjoyed the var - ious social activities of the school suchas l[nitiation, Hallowe'en and Christmas Parties, Class Night, and the monthly dances spon- sored bythe school. We al- so participated in playing volley ball and tennis, and were very proud receiving our letters onSports Night. Most of our freshman ef- forts, however, were spent in maintaining our places on the high school honor roll which was something new to us and an incentive in our studies. The year termina- ted with graduation which was the seniors’ big day, and we helped to make it more impressive by being their honor guard of under- graduates. Upon entering the hallowed halls of Our Lady of Pity High as sophomores, we re- joiced in the fact that no longer we would have to bear the title of ''Lowly Fresh- men.'' We became more at- tentive in our studies and more appreciative of all that our teachers and priests were doing for us. Accom- panied by the friendliness of the upperclassmen, we now felt that we were definitely an integral part of Our Lady of Pity High School. Incon- 42 7 ss = ey | Ty, 4 PO ee Dae en ES junction with our studies there were various extra- curricular activities such as Initiation which we watched with glee, happy that we were among the innocent bystanders. The Hallowe'en and Christ- mas parties and numer- ous educational films rounded out our sche- dule. Most exciting of all, however, was the dance which we sponsored for the first time as soph- omores, Inthe spring we accompanied the juniors and seniors to the Bos- ton Theater to see the spectacular showing of This Isi Cinerama, Wwe were amazed at the beau- tiful and exciting scenes. Class Night held in the earlier part of June was a momentous occasion for the seniors. Many tears were shed by them at the thought of saying good-bye. On Gradua- tion night we formed hon- or guards for the seniors as they proudly walked down the aisle to the sta- ge. After singing the farewell chorus and thanking our teachers we left schooleagerly look- ing forward to the coming year. The following year found us eagerly antici- pating our challenging junior responsibilities. We felt mature and qual- ified to shoulder the nu- merous duties ascribed to us. The subject of vo- cations was frequently brought before us and our inquiring minds in- vestigated and discussed God's possible plans for eachoneofus. The gui- dance and experience of our kind teachers helped tremendously. We shall never forget the beauti- ful day of the senior -ju- nior outing at Salem Wil- lows which proved to be so educational. Now came the seniors' turn to be privately re-initiated at the annual Hallowe'en party sponsored by the juniorclass. They were the best of sports, how- ever, and we allhad a mar- velous time. Atthe Christ- mas Party Santa Claus show- ered us with many gifts. It was during the Christmas Holidays that plans were made for the semi-formal held January15. Promtime finally arrived. It was our first opportunity to don love- ly evening gowns and smart tuxedos. How glamorous we looked and felt on that long anticipated night of nights. Only two events remained now, Class Nightand Grad- uation. When the school, led by the juniors, was as- sembled in the hall to bid farewell, the seniors were pensive and tearful at the thought of parting. We had made many friends among the seniors and on gradua- tion night fond and sad fare- wells were expressed. Upon returning as seniors, we re- solved to imitate their exem- plary conduct. This year as September rolled around, we were awakened to the somewhat somber realization that this would be the last time we would begin anew school Vie ated Ours ladyeOis Pity High. Class officers were elected with the following results: president, Roger Gaudet; vice-president, Nancy Williams; secretary, Judith Lefebvre; and treas- Ureree Jacqueline Demers. We planned with glee the Initiation of the newcomers; one whole week of revenge for the time when we, as freshmen, had to gothrough similar tortures, Shortly after) thevopening of the school year, we madea re- turn visit to the House of the Seven Gables andthenon to Salem Willows accompanied by ourteachers and the ju- niorclass. Thenit seemed that we had little more than taken a quick breath when we began a three-day re- treat with Father Beaulne as our Retreat Master; it was a great spiritual lift for us all. When we had settled down to our books once more, our yearbook drive began, and with the much appreciated help of the un- derclassmen, we worked until our financial goal was attained. Inthe early partof November, we invaded Vantine Stu- dios to have our class pictures taken. With the distribution of these among ourselves, once again the thought of parting came to our minds, Our jolly Santa Claus filled everybody with holiday spirit at the annual Christmas party, as he distributed the beautifully wrapped gifts tothe priests, sisters, and students. At the outset of the New Year we held the mid- winter Semi-Formal.. The orchestra played our favorite songs while we danced to our hearts' content a betorenve realized it, we beganto prepare for the com- mencement exercises. In the midstofallthis, we spent the most en- joyable evening of our high school yearslOur Senior - Junior Prom, with all its dazzle and excitement, proved to be even more wonderful than our fondest dreams, While the last goodbys were being said, we prayed that God would watch over our cher- ished friends through- out their lives. May the diplomas received at the hands of our be- loved Pastor be the pre- miums of work well done and a pledge that the fine training received here at Our Lady of Pity High may accompany us along life's journey. (Class Prophecy continued) she is aleading model at the Vantine Studios. She photographed a millionaire one day and substituted some pictures of Clark Gable inthe, pio Ot cere liked them so muchhe married her and now she owns a minkcoat so long that her maid has to hold it up to pre - vent it fromdragging on the ground. It certainly was a pleasure to re- veal the fate that lady luck bestowed upon each of our formerclassmates. We are sure all are happy and con- tented in their respective field. Let us hope that God will be half as good tous as these predictions have been; if so, we shall certainly hold a glo- rious reunion some day in Heaven. Cant 10 DANCE!
