The education of Christian youth never had a more decisive or vital importance ‘faced, as it is today, by the disconcerting errors of naturalism and materialism which, in precipitating the world into an appalling war, give cruel proof of the falsity of a philosophy based on essentially human foundations. If the world _ is to know true peace, the rising generation must be taught to know and to love Christian ideals. (Broadcast to the Catholic University of America) Mises he : MOST REVEREND RICHARD J. This brought our favorite program to a close, so we decided to turn to something else. When we changed to the other channel we came across the wrestling matches from Shmoboken, Nebraska. Entering the ring were 44 Teonard the Terrible,'' and his opponent, Glorious George,'' who were, much to our astonishment, our old classmates, Leonard Benoit and George Bernazani. The 'reff'' called them into the center of the ring for final in- structions, and who was the famous referee but George LeVeille. While the bout was under way a woman in the audience kept rushing up to the apron of the ring and sticking a hat pin into the two contenders. After she did this a number of times we recognized her as our fire haired terror, Anne Hackett. Then as all good times must come to an end we reluctantly turned the television off and proceeded to hire a jet-propelled taxi for Pauline. (signed) Beverly Brooks Pauline Brouillard 59 S485 2h yieiyagd SMe ok es eb ib Vokes Awe On the Feast of Christ the King, the last Sunday of October, 1951, there was held in our parish church forthe first time a special service, which has as its object the admittance of new boys into LES CHANTEURS DE NOTRE DAME, the vested Li- turgical Choir of men and boys of the parish, directed by Mr. Paul J. Hotin. The boys' section of the Choir is made up of three distinct groups: the REGULARS (whose privilege it is tosing God's praises at the great liturgical functions through- out the ecclesiastical year); the RESERVES (who are in the Choir for their second year and who, while acquainting themselves with the repertoire of the full choir, are allowed, on occasion, to join their voices withthose of the Regular Choristers); and the PROBATIONERS (who are the new boys just coming into the choir and start- ing the long, arduous task of learning to use their voices properly). Only the finest obtainable examples of the rich treasury of the Church's music are sung by LES CHANTEURS DE NOTRE DAME, who are gradually acquiring an enviable reputation for their tone and their interpretation of sacred choral master- pieces, 61 65 Junior CL . New studies, new teachers' names we thought we'd never learn, From the first to the second floor whichever way we turned, Upperclassmen laughed and scorned - Oh! how we were spurned! As days went by we gained more friends and we were lost no more; And though we searched we couldn't find that elevator door. In early spring we were of age to hold our first election - Pauline and Bev plus Dora and George made a fine selection. These four were leaders true enough for Freshmen to admire; They helped to make our class become the Sisters’ fond desire. SOPHOMORE YEAR 1949 - 1950 Vacation time and then the fall and back we were to work; As Sophomores now we knew that we must not be found to shirk, Election came and again this year a happy choice was made With Pat and Leonard and Dora too - all three we would not trade. Again we were united with the purpose to excel, And it's a fact, in every way the Sophomore Class did well. JUNIOR YEAR 1950 - 1951 September tenth, nineteen-fifty began our Junior Year; A more outstanding Junior Class had never before been here. At the Junior Prom we all came out - it served as our debut - Our first affair, a great success, to us this was quite new. We cast aside our shyness, and we banished all our fear; We came to be a select group - a remarkable Junior Year! From then till June we tried our best to make ourselves well known In every study and school affair - to students fine we'd grown. SENIOR YEAR 1951 - 1952 The eleventh of September commenced our final year - We never thought we would but we were sorry it was here. Election of class officers, a tense exciting duty, With-Dora and Lenny, Marguerite and Pat, combining brains and beauty. And then came pictures, pins and rings - could we ask for more? Such busy days - now who could say that school life was a bore? 74 Our delightful Class Day and Senior Prom were long anticipated, Committees planned two glorious times - then for June 7th we waited. And laughter for the night was King, as classmates gaily mingled; The music made our glad hearts dance, the old walls fairly tingled! Last scene of all - It is time of solemn graduation! In caps and gowns and faces bright we sit in still formation, With minds intent and eager hearts and acting so sedate, Each waits his turn, his prize to get and then to celebrate. All hail the Class of '52! What fun school life has been! And now we join the outside world - our places there to win. Beverly Brooks Pauline Brouillard opularity ify Le ESOC MMODiLite iia).
