» 4251 Chaya OG story FRESHMAN YEAR SEPTEMBER - Stealthily we oreeped up to Our Lady of Pity High School on that brisk Sep- tember morn. Flashing through our minds were the few remarks we had heard from the upper olassmen, Wait till we get those Freshmen; we'll take care of them Any minute we expected hordes of Seniors to swoop down upon us, but nothing hap- pened! The first month was wonderful; all enjoyed the brevity of the classes and the changing around. OCTOBER - Without warning it oame - THE INITIATION § $ § Well-mannered, dignified Seniors turned out to be plotting and fiendish planners. For a whole week we bowed and salaamed to the Seniors. Then, on Friday, in we oame with haggard and haunted looks, for each of us had to oarry our books in pails. We were ushered into the hall for the exeoution. After many elaborate gestures we were told what we were expected to do in order to be worthy of the title FRESHMEN. We were then tendered a party by the upper olassmen,and a good time was had by all. DECEMBER - The months seemed to be flying by. Christmas was already here! Each home- room had a Christmas Party of its own. We weloomed the vacation for we all felt the need of a rest. JANUARY - All were now hard at work selling tiokets for the High School Whist. Each year competed to see who could sell most tiokets. Everyone did so well that, as a reward, the whole sohool got a day off. MARCH - Oh, the miseries of Latin, Science, and Algebra { { ! Grammar School was never like this! MAY - All the girls of our olass were enrolled in the Sodality of the Children @ Mary. Reverend Father Chabot, our spiritual director, gave us our blue ribbons and certificates. The ceremony was most impressive and will linger in our memories for many years to come. JUNE At last the Glee Club Pionio { { ! We chartered a bus and off we went to Norumbega Park. Forgotten were the cares and worries of the year. Eagerly we looked forward to vacation and to the following year when we would be “Sophisti- coated Sophs.” SOPHOMORE YEAR SEPTEMBER - Having happily survived our diffioult and memorable Freshman Year, baok we went to N. D. P. H. Hints were dropped to the Freshmen concerning their initia- tion, the new subjects, eto, We felt quite important and proudly sported our new title, SOPHISTICATED SOPHS. OCTOBER = This month saw the beginning of a oourse in Calisthenics. Most of us didn't even know the meaning of the word. We were astounded to find that it was just plain GYM. This year was different because we did not have an initiation; in- stead we had a Hallowe'en Party for the Freshmen. NOVEMBER = The Catholic Action Movement was introduced in N.D.P.H. This organization was greeted with moh enthusiasm on the part of both teachers and students.
