A Christmas Minstrel Show and a green- haired cherub for the Novices astonished and delighted the school. The usual Intra- mural Championships however, were by this time beyond astonishing or delighting anyone but the Juniors. A very pleasant surprise came at the end of the year as the Juniors demonstrated their ingenuity by planning and executing a very different Junior Senior Banquet ' ii! Boatride to Paradise. Bon Voyage lunches, ball games, sliding and swinging keynoted a very delightful day. Class day climaxed the year and capped the Juniors with their Senior hats, poignantly reminding them that they were leaving Sister Mary and their history notes behind them to face their new responsibility as Sister Francis Loretto's Seniors of '56, 5 IACKLYN RADLEY V S. Incredulous looks were exchanged by the Seniors as timid Freshmen begged to carry books, and the Caf line melted away in deference to the High and Mighty Ones. A new and not--too-pleasant Qunbelievablyl slant on initiation started the year going. Harried Seniors propelled Hmicrocephalic and umbrageous Disney- land characters through a day filled with age-old ritual and some modern innovations, The week-long agony of milk-carton toting, lipstickness, and general discomfort ended for the Freshmen, but the discomfort for the high-heeled, paper-capped, camera- bearing Seniors was still all too present. The large number of pen- nants on our walls prompted the motto The Class With Spirit. It was difficult set- tling down to studies but understanding teachers helped us, ST. Victoire Julie had us chasing cater- pillars for our insect col- lections. Our pride and joy, THE STAR appeared regularly with all the latest comments from Sophs. Our Jazzy Christmas with an unusual Santa caused quite a stir. Sopho- mores and Seniors put on the Sister Dance SNOW BALL. Dancers glided across the floor under del- icate snowflakes which hung suspended from the rafters. The annual Saratoga Project was a huge success with the Sophs capturing two pennants for their financial contributions. Sr. Victoire Julie was prepared for our renewed vigor and met us in the Biology Lab with dissecting kits, Miss Beckh was prepared too, and we became acquainted with JULIUS CAESAR' on a literary basis. More Panda spirit was displayed in our cooperation in the paper drive, Mission Day, and the Slang Dictionary which was completed under the direction of Miss Beckh. The Science Fair at Golden Gate Park was an attraction for 10th Grade scien- tists, and Moss Beach, too, with its very, very low tide, where we were seen grabbing for wiggling, elusive creatures to bring home as specimens. One thoughtful Soph left her speci- mens outside Room 10 and provided a crab chase for Sr. Frances later in the afternoon when the creature was found scurrying down the corridor to- wards the stairs--no doubt looking for water. The breakfast for our Senior Big Sisters was a tremendous success and The Class With Spirit looks forward to an even more successful year as Juniors--Upperclassmen! Discussion on vital problems took up the year under the much-needed guidance of their Moderator, Sister Francis Loretto. The year came to a double climax--for the Seniors, a fantastic weekend retreat at Saratoga under Father Donnelly, O.P. and for the entire group an Evening of Recollection with Father Sammon. Hot debates, corrected heresies and a visit by our Three little nuns, punctuated a very faithful and enjoyable year that left all the members more mature daughters of Notre Dame. if - X fx M M, 7-Mwdim Shown here are the chairmen of the various committees of the Federation, One of the outstanding activities of our Notre Dame Federation was the writing and presentation of a Christopher playlet for the unit meeting at Star of the Sea High School.
