L IW 'U 5 Father David Scheider, athletic directorg Bill Lewis and Sam Barone, co-captains of the football teamg Maureen Clancy, cap- tain of the varsity cheerleaders. 19 This year, the varsity football team under the steady and vigorous coach- ing of Mr. Henry Lewis and Mr. George Herraman worked hard, long hours on the practice field getting in shape for this year's eight tough games. With co-captains Sam Barone and Bill Lewis leading, the varsity gridders fought four of the scheduled games on our home field at McArthur Stadium. Although the odds were stacked high against the ND squad because of its great losses in injuries, the ,fighting spirit of the Little Irish was never dimmed. Cheering spirit grew with each tense game, proving once more, that with the will to win, we may be down but not out!
