Symbols are often spurs to the memoryg for ex- ample, a breviary and a roll book, a diploma and an honor pass, a world history book, a corsage, and a baseball bat bring back memories of persons and places at Notre Dame, a high school which has pro- vided material for satisfying memories. l 1 2 ZLL of Cmfmfd FACULTY AND COURSES SENIORS UNDERCLASSMEN ACTIVITIES SPORTS BUSINESS ASSOCIATES vw, New 5 .!Q!o6ne55, pope R146 ,MA Jgognedd, pope JOAIQ 1958- 19391958 Most Reverend Leo R. Diocesan priests, two Conso- lata Fathers from Turin, Italy, and the Sisters of the Holy Cross, whose mother house is at St. Mary's Con- vent, Notre Dame, Indiana, comprise the faculty of Notre Dame High School. Three courses of study are offered, the academic course, the business course, and the general course. The reason for this special awareness is, of course, the fact that all these things are swiftly draw- ing to a close. All of a sudden seniors are aware of how much they enjoy joking in the locker roomg of the satisfaction they have after studying, hard, for a Regents examination, and passingg they even look forward to the daily bus ride. Most of all seniors remember the last few weeks of high school: the May procession, because the May queen is chosen from their classg the Senior Ball, a huge success after months of planningg and, finally, actually wearing the caps and gowns they were measured for, weeks before. Yes, seniors have many memories. The senior boys' Christmas project was erecting the crib in front of Notre Dame. 'H . Whether the days are pleasant or unpleasant, the classes interesting or uninteresting, the activities successful or unsuccessful, each is a step toward the fourth year of high school. No freshman, sophomore, or junior wishes to stop at any point along the way and knows, consciously or unconsciously, that each day's actions determine the goal. Many achievements will surely be added to the underclassmen's accomplishments because they have the potential to excel spiritually, scholastically, and athletically. The class of 1962 takes the high school entrance examination. Row One: Sam Barone, Virginia Stevenson, Francis Repicci, Tom Noonan. If some students have learned to accept responsi- bility, to share their goods with others less fortunate, to meet deadlines, to cooperate with students and teachers, to regulate their time, or to speak before an audience, Notre Dame's activity program will have been worth-while.
