We explore Mary ' s world (of science) THE science department is headed by Father Prina who believes in giving his students more knowledge than they can absorb. His classes and laboratory periods are full of inter- esting sidelights that cannot be found in a text book. The freshmen classes in general science are taught by Father Rutecki and Mr. Hillis. These are also supplemented by laboratory periods. Physics is being taught for the first time this year to the senior science majors. ABOVE: As you can see, the heart is really only a muscle. Intently watching Fathet Prina dissect a frog are Peter LaMendola, William Preston, Elizabeth Christner, Vincent Messina, Joel Jaquay and Robert Rogowski. Now of course you ' ve memorized these chemistry equations. Richard Bowers, Martha Gleason, Glenn Mulcahy, Thomas Bausch and Manin Haitz are in silent agreement (?). . . .and when we get done we ' ll have nice clean water. No bacteria! Father Rutecki demonstrates the easiest ( ' : ' ) method of distilling water to Edward Leising, Teresa Mix, Barbara Dombrowski, Marilyn Pratt, Michael Murray, Frances Roemer and Katherine Maloney. 18
