Two Decades of Seryfnce In 1 loy ely suburbin section of Philade1ph1a Penn syly mia called Nloylm Rose Y alley a gold cross was elected on the topmost gtblc of 1 spacious prnyate home in 1902 to mark 1 country home for the Sisters and bolrders of the Academy of Notre Dame at West Rittenhouse Square Philadelphia In 1907 a beauti ful chlpel was built of granite in Gothic style and Notie Dame Moylan began to grow By 1926 the dream of many yeaxs w as realized when His Emi nance Dennis Cardinil Dougherty Archbishop of Philadelphm laid the corner stone of 1 new school at stone trimmings and CO1lC151ltC Gothic architecture set amid thirteen Ieres of clmpus shtdcd by magni ficent trees this modern institution functioned as 1 priy ate boarding school for the first ten years of its existence Then in 1935 the reyerend administrators of the diocesan school sy stem of Philadelphia found that more facilities were necessary for the girls of high school age in the rapidly growing district of Delaware County XX ith the tern mlssm on of the Most Rey erend Arch hishop md under the leldership of the late Right Reyerend Monsignor Iohn Bonner the Sisters of Notre Dime de INamur opened the doors of their school to welcome the Cxthohc girls of Delaware County Beginning with ln enrollment of 267 the school has grown yearly with unpredictable rapidity 7 1940 19 0 1945 12:6 1946 1149 Accredited by the State Department of Harrisburg in 1936 the school was gnyen a rating of Superlor by the Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools of the Nliddle States and Maryland 1n 1946 Grow th of staff personnel enrollment increase while a loy 11 spirit has alyy ay s been 1n ady ance leading ever to higher things That all the friends of the school especially its loy 11 Alumnae may Join with us in the Gloria at the end of its first decade as a diocesan high school the Mary script staff of 1946 presents Pages ADMINISTRATION AND FACULTY 6 15 SCHGOL LIFE ALVIN 111125 AND C1 UBS CLASSILS PA TROINS 6 o ,, - , , , , P fs ,, vs 5 '- 7' V K K . -I , .
