Dear hlemhers of the Alumnae Association: Under the leadership of officers elected at the October meeting in 1941, the Alumnae Association has tried to maintain the high standards of achievement set hy preceding administrations. At its first meeting of the season, the Executive Board promised to haclc the school in the purchase of an amplifying system consisting of a microphone and a record- ing machine. This promise was redeemed in part at Christmas: and lay its proceeds from the Spring Formal, the Association hopes to Finish the payments on the microphone and to help in the purchase ol' needed machines in the husi- ness department. Besides financial aid for Notre Dame, the purpose ol' the Alumnae Association is to pro- mote the social life of its memlaers and to cement the friendships among them and with their former teachers, the Sisters. The first of these two aims has heen lcept in mind in the three successful dances. To fullniil the second purpose, two general meetings are held at the school in October and in January: a Day of Recoliection on Palm Sunday. and, mostrde- lightful of all, the Annual Reunion, on Nlay 17th this year. when hundreds of Alumnae re- turned to recall with one another and with the Sisters the memories of their school days. I thanlc all most sincerely who have helped to make this year successful, especially Doctor Joseph A. Gorham who so generously gave ol his time and energy to further our interests and those of the school. Let,s rally together every year to Iceep up the reputation that our Alumnae has always maintained for loyal cooperation with all that promotes the welfare of Notre Dame. Sincerely yours, Yvonne Lord, '59, President. SW The inauguration of new clubs with various interests has been instru- mental in time expansion of the social element at Notre Dame. The dances, plays, musicales, and operettas have not only added to enjoyment, but they have also developed in us an appreciation for social graces and the permanent qualities of culture.
