Qop Class I-lfstofug September 1955! Gaily and hopefully we embarked on the second lapse of our scholastic journey. The Usmiling Sophomoresv, though forty-six strong, were happy to welcome Rachel Cyr and Dolores Langevin in their ranks. From the very onset of the school year the classical and commercial students found themselves assigned to separate classrooms--Sister Sainte- Rollande was homeroom teacher for the Classicals and Sister Veronica for the Commercials. However, the division was just curriculum-wise--for we were still one in heart and spirit, We sailed along happily under the guidance of our devoted homeroom teachers as well as Sister Bernadette-Marie, Sister-Jeanne-de-Florence and Sister Jean-du-Cenacle. After the thrills and chills of initiation week died down, we elected officers--two sets of them! Classical course leaders were Frederic Hetu, President, Louise Beaupre, Vice-Presi- dent, Ronald Corriveau, Treasurer, Madeleine Haling, Secretary and Anne Marie May- nard, Chorist. The Commercials installed Nancy Bonnette as President, Rita Carmel, Secre- tary, James Normandin, Treasurer and Yvette Racicot, Librarian. The Hrst event of the school year, udeclamation contest found two sophies on the ranks Madeleine Haling and George Bellerose. George won semi-finals honors. In November, Madeleine Haling attended the National Convention of the CYC at St. Louis, Missouri and had many an interesting tale to tell upon her return. During this same month, Anne Marie Maynard and Robert Boulanger were nominated CYCers of the month. We were proud in- deed that students from the Sophomore class should be the first to have this honor. Our class showed its true colors at the unforgetable skating party we had at Yvette Raci- cotfs camp. A grand turnout! A wonderful time! And the days sped by! Christmas, with its usual festivities, New Year's with its resolu- tions, January with its exams! Lent took on a deeper spiritual meaning as each student was spurred to greater generosity by the CYC motivation projects. Participation in the county Science Fair and in the National OGA Shorthand Contest gave great stimulation to our class work and we actually found some -days too short! With the prom but a memory, we solemnly reflected, as we pressed the soft petals of our corsage roses, that soon, very soon, we would be closing our textbooks upon the learning and happenings of our second year of high school. We are taking with us countless happy memories, and to the up-and-coming Sopho- mores we say 'fMay your second year at Notre Dame be filled with blue skies, pink clouds, and silver stars . -------Pauline Lavallee, Pauline Payant 0 F F I C E R S26
