Silent encouragement is given to an Irish batter in a tense situation late in the all important Austin game by Dan Vitali, Prisco Nardone, Chris Bockhausen, Phil Kramer, Terry Templin, Gary Lytle, Dave Carruthers and Tom Bolz. Led by Bob Biernat, Bob Peltz and Russ Gram- er, the lrish jumped off to a victorious start by trouncing Cathedral, 13-2. After dropping a non- league encounter to Catholic Central, 10-5, Notre Dame's spirited squad lost a 6-5 heartbreaker to Austin in extra innings. Bouncing back the Irish whipped De La Salle, 8-6, and St. Joe's ll-1. Terry Templin pitched Notre Dame into first place by besting U. of D. High, A-3, for his fourth straight victory. Batter up!
