Not the virtuoso who finds in music the perfect medium for self expression, a means unequalled for the sharing of feelings and sentiments too deep, too strong, or too sacred for words, not the student who sees in music a personal challenge, an opportunity for achievement and very real satisfaction, not anyone who has known the magic power to soothe, to comfort and to cheer. These, among others, are the reasons why, two years ago, a Band was organized, and last year, a Glee Club. Their respective achievements are proudly recorded on the follow' ing pages, but more important by far is the implied contributions which both Glee Club, and Band in particular, are making to their active members and indeed, to every student at Notre Dame. We are gaining new respect for good music and a taste for it which has been blunted by much that is popular today and forgotten tomorrow, ln terms of our educational foundation, this new knowledge and appreciation of music which has survived the test of time spells strength and endurance.
